Formation of supramolecular adducts of ferrocene (guest) and cyclic head-to-tail trimers (hosts) derived from bile acid: 3α-hydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid triolide (1), 3α-hydroxy-7-oxo-5β-cholan-24-oic acid triolide (2), 3α-hydroxy-12-oxo-5β-cholan-24-oic acid triolide (3), 3α-hydroxy-7α-trifluoroacetoxy-6β-cholan-24-oic acid triolide (4) and 3α-hydroxy-12α-TFA-5β-cholan-24-oic acid triolide (5) (TFA = trifluoroacetoxy) have been studied by 1H NMR. The best computer-assisted data fitting on the 1H-NMR chemical shift data was given by a 1:2 (guest/host) association model. Solid state structural studies of five bile acid derivatives

Five synthetically important bile acid derivatives have been characterized by 13 C CP-MAS, X-ray diffraction (both single crystal and powder), FTIR, and thermoanalytical (DSC and TG) methods. The crystallinity of all these derivatives is high, which can be deducted from the 13 C CP-MAS and powder X-ray diffraction data. Two of the compounds showed polymorphism, and one polymorph was structurally elucidated for both by comparing single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction data.

Bile acid receptor TGR5 is critically involved in preference for dietary lipids and obesity

International audience; We investigated the implication of Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 (TGR5) in fat preference and fat sensing in taste bud cells (TBC) in C57BL/6 wild-type (WT) and TGR5 knock out (TGR5-/-) male mice maintained for 20 weeks on a high-fat diet (HFD). We also assessed the implication of TGR5 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in young obese humans. The high-fat diet (HFD)-fed TGR5-/- mice were more obese, marked with higher liver weight, lipidemia and steatosis than WT obese mice. Bile acid-derived mono- and diketals—synthesis, structural characterization and self-assembling properties

Three oxo-derivatives of bile acid methyl esters have been used as starting compounds in the preparation of novel bile acid monoketals with 1,2-benzenediol (catechol) and 2,3-naphthalenediol, as well as mono- and diketals with pentaerythritol. Monoketals of pentaerythritol showed a tendency to form thermoreversible gels in many aromatic solvents and the methyl lithocholate derivative proved to be a supergelator able to form a gel with t-butylbenzene at a concentration as low as 0.5% w/v. Characterization of ox bile, traditionally used in painting, is of interest in the fields of archaeometry and conservation and restoration of works of art. Bile acids, fatty acids (F), and cholesterol found in ox bile have been identified using a derivatization method that combines the formation of ethyl esters from the carboxylic groups and the trimethylsilyl ethers from hydroxyl groups. The retention factors of several aromatic compounds were obtained by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) using cholate, taurocholate, deoxycholate and deoxytaurocholate as micellar systems. The possibility of using these retention factors to describe and predict several ecotoxicological activities of different aromatic compounds was evaluated. Adequate correlations retention–ecotoxicity (log LC50 in fish and daphnia, log EC50 in green algae and daphnia, chronic values in fish and green algae, bioconcentration factor, and soil sorption coefficient) were obtained for the micellar systems studied.
