The Gaia-ESO Survey: impact of extra mixing on C and N abundances of giant stars

The GES survey using FLAMES at the VLT has obtained high-resolution UVES spectra for a large number of giant stars, allowing a determination of the abundances of the key chemical elements C and N at their surface. The surface abundances of these chemical species are well-known to change in stars during their evolution on the red giant branch after the first dredge-up episod, as a result of extra-mixing phenomena. Mandibular metastasis from carcinoma of the bladder: Report of a case and literature review

Metastases represent about 1% of all malignant tumors of the oral region. Only 12 cases of metastases to the jawbones and 3 to the oral soft tissues from a carcinoma of the bladder are reported in the English literature. Here we report a case of an 86 year-old man with a metastasis to the anterior region of the lower jaw from a transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder treated 5 years before, all-together with a literature review.

The odontogenic myxoma is a rare entity located in mandible and upper maxilla. Due to its local aggressiveness, wide surgical excision is mandatory. Several surgical techniques have been described for the reconstruction of segmental mandibular defects. In comparison with other free flaps, the vascularized free fibular flap (VFFF) supports the longest amount of bone and, due to the nature of the vascular supply a complete freedom in location of the osteotomy is present. A case report of coexistence of a sialolith and an adenoid cystic carcinoma in the submandibular gland

Ôhe occurrence of sialoliths in the submandibular gland is 80% due to the specific anatomy of both the gland and its duct. The diagnosis is rather easy because of the obvious clinical signs of the entity. Imaging studies are always necessary in order to treat the patient as effectively as possible. The stones do not tend to occur within the gland as frequently as in the respective duct. The coexistence of sialoliths and malignant tumors is extremely rare. Saistībā ar mācību programmu piektajā klasē ir jāmācās par tēmu “Ēdiens” maltītēm, veselīgu un neveselīgu ēdienu. Pētījuma metode ir gadījuma pētījums, kas balstās uz tādām datu apstrādes metodēm, kā aptaujas, intervijas un skolotājas žurnāls. Esta primitiva produccion, y cada uno de los ejemplares que la integraba, fechados entre 1539 y 1634, recibieron el nombre de incunables americanos a semejanza de los primeros libros impresos en Europa entre la creacion de la imprenta y el 1 de enero de 1501.
