L'anarquisme i el camperolat valencià: la readaptació d'una ideologia d'élites per la cultura popular
1992
EL PRESENTE ARTICULO TRATA DE EXPLICAR LA READAPTACION QUE CIERTOS INDIVIDUOS DEL MUNDO RURAL VALENCIANO HICIERON A PRINCIPIOS DE NUESTRO SIGLO DE ESA CONTRADICTORIA IDEOLOGIA A LA QUE LLAMAMOS ANARQUISMO. EL ANARQUISMO RURAL VALENCIANO FUE EL RESULTADO DE UN PROCESO DE ACULTURACION DONDE SE FUNDIERON DOS REALIDADES MENTALES DISTINTAS: UNA IDEOLOGIA HEREDERA DE FILOSOFIAS DIECIOCHESCAS Y DECIMONONICAS ELABORADA POR INTELECTUALES URBANOS Y UNA MILENARIA CULTURA RURAL MEDITERRANEA. ESTE "ANARQUISMO POPULAR" TUVO SU ECLOSION MAS NOTABLE Y LLAMATIVA EN 1936: UNA MEZCLA DE SUEÑOS DE FRATERNIDAD Y DE PUREZA MORAL, RITUALES DE SANGRE Y FUEGO DE PASMOSA ANTIGÜEDAD Y CONCRECIONES ECONOMICAS MAS O ME…
Redescription ofOdhneriella subtila (Skrjabin, 1959) (Digenea: Campulidae) from the intestine ofGlobicephala melaena (Traill, 1809) (Cetacea: Delphin…
1989
During parasitological investigations of long-finned pilot whales,Globicephala melaena (Traill, 1809), in the Faroe Islands, the trematode speciesOdhneriella subtila (Digenea: Campulidae), parasitising the small intestine, was detected. Skrjabin's (1959) original description of this species was based on a single individual. The collection and availability for study of several thousands of specimens permitted the redescription of this campulid and the noting of some new morphological characters. This trematode is reported for the first time from the long-finned pilot whale, and the Atlantic Ocean is a new locality record.

Amnesia and the hippocampus
2006
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Long-term memory impairments have great medical significance and a considerable health and economic burden. Understanding their cognitive and neuroanatomical underpinnings is of crucial importance. Severe amnesia is usually observed following bilateral hippocampal pathology. This review addresses the precise role of the hippocampus and related medial temporal lobe structures in amnesia. RECENT FINDINGS: Disagreements exist over whether, following selective hippocampal damage: retrograde amnesia for episodic memories is temporally limited or extensive and ungraded; anterograde amnesia involves both recollective and familiarity processes. It is accepted that material specif…
Artemisia herba-alba essential oil from Buseirah (South Jordan): Chemical characterization and assessment of safe antifungal and anti-inflammatory do…
2015
Abstract Ethnopharmacologic relevance Artemisia herba-alba Asso (“desert wormwood” in English; “armoise blanche” in French; “shaih” in Arabic), is a medicinal and strongly aromatic plant widely used in traditional medicine by many cultures since ancient times. It is used to treat inflammatory disorders (colds, coughing, bronchitis, diarrhea), infectious diseases (skin diseases, scabies, syphilis) and others (diabetes, neuralgias). In Jordanian traditional medicine, this plant is used as antiseptic and against skin diseases, scabies, syphilis, fever as well as menstrual and nervous disorders. Aim of the study Considering the traditional medicinal uses and the lack of scientific studies addre…
ChemInform Abstract: New Highly Asymmetric Henry Reaction Catalyzed by CuIIand a C1-Symmetric Aminopyridine Ligand, and Its Application to the Synthe…
2008
A new catalytic asymmetric Henry reaction has been developed that uses a C(1)-symmetric chiral aminopyridine ligand derived from camphor and picolylamine. A variety of aromatic, heteroaromatic, aliphatic, and unsaturated aldehydes react with nitromethane and other nitroalkanes in the presence of DIPEA (1.0 equiv), Cu(OAc)(2)*H(2)O (5 mol %), and an aminopyridine ligand (5 mol %) to give the expected products in high yields (up to 99 %), moderate-to-good diastereoselectivites (up to 82:18), and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98 %). The reaction is air-tolerant and has been used in the synthesis of the antifungal agent miconazole.
Increased Stress Resistance and Lifespan in Chaenorhabditis elegans Wildtype and Knockout Mutants—Implications for Depression Treatment by Medicinal …
2021
Depression and anxiety disorders are widespread diseases, and they belong to the leading causes of disability and greatest burdens on healthcare systems worldwide. It is expected that the numbers will dramatically rise during the COVID-19 pandemic. Established medications are not sufficient to adequately treat depression and are not available for everyone. Plants from traditional medicine may be promising alternatives to treat depressive symptoms. The model organism Chaenorhabditis elegans was used to assess the stress reducing effects of methanol/dichlormethane extracts from plants used in traditional medicine. After initial screening for antioxidant activity, nine extracts were selected f…
Does unsaponifiable fraction of grape seed oil attenuate nitric oxide production, oxidant and cytotoxicity activities.
2019
Triterpenoids, tocopherols, and phytosterols presented in unsaponifiable fraction of grape seed oil have several beneficial effects comprising antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor capacities. In this study, the unsaponifiable fraction of three Tunisian grape seed varieties (Vitis vinifera L.), namely Merlot, Carignan, and Syrah, was investigated. The identified compounds were two triterpenic compounds (β-amyrin, lanosterol), six phytosterols (campesterol, ∆7 -avenasterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol, β-sitostanol, cholesterol), and three tocopherols (α, β, and γ tocopherols). The unsaponifiable fraction had significant protection against oxidative damage by modulating NO production …

El campo de la Sociología en España (1976-2013). Análisis sociométrico y de redes de las tesis doctorales y sus tribunales
2016
[EN]: The interest in conducting this thesis is due to two main reasons. On the one hand the strong growth of Sociology in Spain in recent times, on the other hand the lack of research on doctoral theses in the field of sociology. The purpose of this work is to study the actors involved in the developing process of Sociology doctoral theses in Spain between 1976 and 2013. The aim is to identify the structure of the underlying relationships among academics, to create a map of academic positions in the field of Sociology and to identify research trends. The methodology used to achieve the overall objective was social networks analysis, combined with statistical indicators. We selected the the…
