Racial stacking et stéreotypes raciaux en sport collectif : le cas particulier du basket-ball en contexte français
2013
This doctoral research investigates how categorization and stereotypes are conveyed when it comes to ethnic discrimination in basket-ball. The first study (racial stacking which was performed in the Pro National Basket-ball League A in France) shows that white players are more likely to be over-represented when it comes to the position of point guard considered as central in regard to the performance. The available evidence produced by the second phase of the research highlights the existence of categorization (racial stacking), of stereotypes (which conveys the belief that some people possess certain genetic and ethnic traits) and of biased discourse (more favorable implication in the disc…
2003
A theoretical approach to the notion of significate and to existing models for the analysis of prepositions argues for a polysemous reading of auf as preposition or particle. Our study demonstrates the inadequacy of both the localist model and the theory of preposition bleaching, arguing that both the spatial interpretation and the bleaching phenomenon can be accounted for by the syntactic function and the semantic environment of the preposition-particle. Spatial and abstract uses can be dealt with homogeneously within the theoretical frameworks of incidence (G. Guillaume, G. Moignet, J. Cervoni) and inference (P. Cadiot), which disproves the theory of Aktionsart as applied to verbal partic…

Biais de discrimination et statut social : une étude de terrain sur les relations intergroupes
2006
International audience; This study concerns discrimination bias in relations between work groups. As new developments in categorisation theory have shown, several factors modulate the effects of inter-group categorisation. Among these, status is viewed as introducing conflict between groups. We studied the impact of this factor in a work situation where status was not linked to power, choosing a firm in which relations between groups were conflict provoking. Three work groups within the same mobile phone firm were selected on the basis of their status : the ''Hard'' group, considered as high status in relation to the low status ''Administration'' group, and the ''Production'' group with an …
Elaboration of a method to categorize substances of interest as regards to their potential endocrine disrupting activity: assessment and categorizati…
2021
EDCs are substances that alter function(s) of the endocrine system and consequently cause adverse health effects. The endocrine system consists of many cells and tissues that interact with each other and the rest of the body by means of hormones. This system is responsible for controlling a large number of processes in the body from gamete formation, to conception and early developmental processes such as organogenesis, and to most tissue and organ functions throughout life. EDCs interfere with endocrine function by many ways and, in doing so, lead to adverse effects on the health of humans and/or wildlife. Some of the observed health effects associated with EDCs include, butare not limited…
