National orientation, universal outlook – the symbolic capital of FC Barcelona in the global era

AbstractFrom its beginnings, FC Barcelona has been a sports entity in which an important nationalist orientation has coincided with a culture of integration and global openness. The first characteristic was forged from the second decade of the 20th century, when the club became a symbol of Catalonia. The second could be detected throughout the 20th century, both in the foreign origins of its founders and in the majority of its star players, as well as in the inter-classism and universality that characterizes its followers. This article examines to what extent FC Barcelona can continue to be seen nowadays as an institution that articulates the local and the global in Catalan society.

Serological surveys, which acquired considerable importance in the mid twentieth century, are still a key tool to address infectious diseases. This article, using archival and printed sources from the WHO and the medical and general press, analyses the role of doctors and scientists, government, and the WHO in the implementation of serological surveys to evaluate the situation of poliomyelitis, measles and rubella in Spain and to set up a plan of action against them. Resumen. Todas las lenguas muestran variación, tanto desde el punto de vista geográfico como social, y su aprendizaje siempre se produce a través de una de sus variedades geográficas. Hay zonas en que el español convive con otras lenguas, y esto le da una serie de características especiales que el profesor de español como lengua extranjera debe conocer y explicar a sus alumnos. Antecedents: l'any 2003 Abrams i Strogatz van publicar un article en la revista Nature, sobre models dinàmics de la desaparició de les llengües. Dos anys més tard Mira i Paredes van esmenar el model proposat pels autors anteriors. Pedagogical translation, subtitles and ICTs: collaborative projects in L2classroom

[EN] With this paper we offer a contribution to the debate on the importance of translation for learning a second language in the classroom. We exemplify its use as a didactic resource and as a learning tool. We show the methodological bases for a proposal consisting of three collaborative translation projects. This projects were carried out in higher education, namely in a Catalan as a Foreign Language (CLE) classroom at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne (France) in face-to-face and virtual scenarios. These practices are grouped into three different didactic sequences that deal with a given discursive genre –a music video, a commercial and a recipe– and that are realized as a teamwork.

This paper analyses the value and meaning of the concepts "reality" and "fantasy" in Pere Calders' literary world, as the foundations of a literary attitude upholding the imaginary and the fantastic and facing realistic literature of committed or testimonial nature. Secondly, it analyses the author's critiques of positivist scientism and his claim of art and literature as gnoseological alternatives.
