Heat capacities of butanol and pentanol in aqueous dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide solutions

Heat capacities of the ternary systems water-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)-butanol and water-DTAB-pentanol were measured at 25°C. The standard partial molar heat capacities of pentanol in micellar solutions show a maximum at about 0.35 mol-kg−1 DTAB that has been attributed to a micellar structural transition. This maximum tends to vanish by increasing the alcohol concentration and by decreasing the alcohol alkyl chain length; in the case of butanol it was not detected. Determination of albendazole and ivermectin residues in cattle and poultry-derived samples from India by micellar liquid chromatography

We have developed a method, based on micellar liquid chromatography, to determine albendazole and ivermectin in dairy products and biological waste from bovine, as well as edible tissues from poultry. Anthelmitics were resolved in less than 10 min using a C18 column and a mobile phase of 0.15 mol/L sodium dodecyl sulfate – 6% 1-pentanol at buffered at pH 7 with a 0.01 M phosphate salt, running under isocratic mode at 1 mL/min. Detection was by absorbance at 292 nm. Micellar and lyotropic behavior of three isomeric bola-amphiphiles with pyridinium groups

The micellar and lyotropic phase behavior of three isomeric bola-amphiphiles 1, 2 and 3 based on para-, meta- and ortho-phenylene derivatives with hydrophilic pyridinium headgroups was investigated. The micellar behavior was characterized by surface-tension and conductivity measurements: while the para-substituted amphiphile 1 and the ortho isomer 3 aggregated to micelles, the meta-substituted amphiphile 2 exhibited stepwise, but discontinous self-association. This is explained by the mass-action and phase-separation model. The preventive archaeological excavations conducted by Inrap under the direction of Édith Peytremann in 2010, in the commune of Pfulgriesheim in the Kochersberg region, led to the discovery of a settlement sector occupied from the middle of the 7th century to the end of the 11th century. The singularity of the site lies in the absence of any pole constructions and the subdivision of the sector, from the 10th century onwards, by building on cellars associated with excavated huts, pits, and silos. Study of lecithin reverse micelles by FT-IR spectroscopy

FT-IR spectra of water/lecithin/deuterated cyclohexane microemulsions as a function of water/lecithin molar ratio R (R=[water]/[lecithin]) at various lecithin volume fractions (φ) have been recorded. After elimination of the spectral contributions due to the deuterated cyclohexane and normalization, the band parameters of the CO and PO4 vibrational modes due to lecithin have been found dependent only upon R. This behaviour has been interpreted in terms of a progressive structural modification of the water/lecithin interface superimposed to the progressive hydration of CO and PO4 groups. Small-angle neutron scattering from lecithin reverse micelles

Abstract We report new results of small-angle neutron scattering from cyclohexane- d 12 /lecithin/water micellar solutions, performed as a function of the water content, w 0 , the temperature, T and the dispersed-phase volume fraction, ф. The data from dilute samples can be interpreted in terms of the existence of giant cylindrical reverse micelles, in good agreement with the current idea of an unlimited micellar growth with ф. Los primeros indicios sobre cultivo de la vid en la comarca de Requena-Utiel son unas semillas carbonizadas de la ciudad ibérica de Kelin (Caudete de las Fuentes, València) del siglo VII a.C. No obstante, la expansión de su cultivo corresponde a los siglos V-III a.C. como se infiere del gran número de semillas carbonizadas, lagares de piedra, bodegas y ánforas, algunas con marcas pre y postcocción. Hydrophobins play an important role in binding and assembly of fungal surface structures as well as in medium-air interactions. These, hydrophobic properties provide interesting possibilities when purification of macromolecules is concerned. Spectroscopic and Structural Investigation of the Confinement of D and L Dimethyl Tartrate in Lecithin Reverse Micelles

The confinement of D and L dimethyl tartrate in lecithin reverse micelles dispersed in cyclohexane has been investigated by FT-IR, polarimetry, electronic and vibrational circular dichroism (ECD and VCD), 1H NMR, and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Measurements have been performed at room temperature as a function of the solubilizate-to-surfactant molar ratio (R) at fixed lecithin concentration.
