Different Modes of Regulation of the Expression of Dextransucrase in Leuconostoc lactis AV1n and Lactobacillus sakei MN1

2019

Leuconostoc lactis AV1 strain isolated from a Tunisian avocado was characterized as a dextran producer. The promoter PdsrLL and the dsrLL gene encoding the DsrLL dextransucrase responsible for the dextran synthesis were transcriptionally fused to the mCherry coding gene generating the pRCR20 plasmid. Upon plasmid transfer, both AV1n and the dextran non-producing Leuconostoc mesenteroides CM70 became red due to expression of the mCherry from the PdsrLL-dsr-mrfp transcriptional fusion. Characterization of the polymers present in cultures supernatants revealed that the DsrLL encoded from pRCR20 in the recombinant bacteria was able to synthesize dextran. The production of dextran by the DsrLL i…

The widespread use of 68Ga for positron emission tomography (PET) relies on the development of radiopharmaceutical precursors that can be radiolabelled and dispensed in a simple, quick, and convenient manner. The DATA (6-amino-1,4-diazapine-triacetate) scaffold represents a novel hybrid chelator architecture possessing both cyclic and acyclic character that may allow for facile access to 68Ga-labelled tracers in the clinic. We report the first bifunctional DATA chelator conjugated to [Tyr3]octreotide (TOC), a somatostatin subtype 2 receptor (SST2)-targeting vector for imaging and functional characterisation of SSTR2 expressing tumours. The radiopharmaceutical precursor, DATA-TOC, was synthe…

Evaluation of the potential therapeutic effects of a double-stranded RNA mimic complexed with polycations in an experimental mouse model of endometri…

2015

Objective To assess the therapeutic potential of polyinosine-polycytidylic acid, a double-stranded RNA molecule with selective proapoptotic and antiangiogenic activity, complexed with polyethyleneimine (pIC PEI ) in treating endometriosis. Design A heterologous mouse model of endometriosis was created by injecting human endometrial fragments into the peritoneum. Endometrial fragments were engineered to express the fluorescent protein mCherry as a reporter to monitor status over the course of the 4-week study. Setting University-affiliated infertility center. Animal(s) Ovariectomized and hormone-replaced nude mice (n = 30) injected with fluorescent-labeled human endometrial fragments at 4–6 …

Comparative Chemical Compositions of Fresh and Stored Vesuvian PDO "Pomodorino Del Piennolo" Tomato and the Ciliegino Variety

2018

The Vesuvian Piennolo cherry tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Miller) (PdP) is an old and typical variety grown in the Campania region (Italy). PdP is referred to as a long-storage tomato due to its thick and coriaceous skin that allows long post-harvest storage and it has been granted Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status since 2009. In this study, the chemical composition, focusing in particular on organic acids, antioxidant molecules and volatile compounds, were investigated in PdP and compared to another typical variety in Campania, the Ciliegino tomato (CIL). Chemical characterization was evaluated for both the CIL and PdP varieties during storage in the same environmental condit…

Rhagoletis cerasi (L.) in Western Sicily: presence, damages and control in cherry orchards.

2012

The research was carried out from 2006 to 2010 in 12 cherry orchards in Western Sicily, were Rhagoletis cerasi (L.), the cherry fly, represents a problem for medium late ripening cultivars. Presence and infestation of the dipteran were monitored on local cultivars and effectiveness of some products allowed in organic farming was tested compared with net bags. The presence of the cherry fly was recorded in all cherry orchards except in two recently planted and isolated. The infestation on fruits was not very high until the end of May. Pyrethrum and spinosad did not lower the infestation, on the contrary nets reduced it.

Aviokompānijas Airbaltic uzmanības piesaistīšanas elementi: reklāmas sērija „Cherry adventures”

2021

Bakalaura darba nosaukums ir „Aviokompānijas Airbaltic uzmanības piesaistīšanas elementi: reklāmas sērija „Cherry Adventures”. Bakalaura darbs izstrādāts ar mērķi noteikt efektīvas video reklāmas elementus un tās veidošanās principus, izpētīt “Cherry Adventures” reklāmas sēriju uzbūves saturu un auditorijas attieksmi pret to. Darbā tiek izmantotas trīs pētniecības metodes - anketēšana kā kvantitatīvā pētniecības metode, satura analīze kā kvalitatīvā pētniecības metode, daļēji strukturēta intervija kā interviju metode. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tiek apskatītas video reklāmas, digitālo video reklāmu efektivitāte, uzmanības piesaistīšanas elementi reklāmā. Darba pētnieciskajā daļā tiek pielietot…

A novel homologous model for noninvasive monitoring of endometriosis progression.

2017

To date, several groups have generated homologous models of endometriosis through the implantation of endometrial tissue fluorescently labeled by green fluorescent protein (GFP) or tissue from luciferase-expressing transgenic mice into recipient animals, enabling noninvasive monitoring of lesion signal. These models present an advantage over endpoint models, but some limitations persist; use of transgenic mice is laborious and expensive, and GFP presents poor tissue penetration due to the relatively short emission wavelength. For this reason, a homologous mouse model of endometriosis that allows in vivo monitoring of generated lesions over time and mimics human lesions in recipient mice wou…

Fruits and vegetables protect against the genotoxicity of heterocyclic aromatic amines activated by human xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes expressed i…

2010

Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) can be formed during the cooking of meat and fish at elevated temperatures and are associated with an increased risk for cancer. On the other hand, epidemiological findings suggest that foods rich in fruits and vegetables can protect against cancer. In the present study three teas, two wines, and the juices of 15 fruits and 11 vegetables were investigated for their protective effect against the genotoxic effects of 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ) and 2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (PhIP). To closely mimic the enzymatic activation of these HAAs in humans, genetically engineered V79 Chinese hamster fibroblasts were employed tha…
