Virucidal effect of high power ultrasound combined with a chemical sanitizer containing peroxyacetic acid for water reconditioning in the fresh-cut i…

2015

The use of chlorine-based sanitizers is widespread throughout the fresh produce industry in the process water to maintain microbial safety of produce, avoid cross-contamination and recycle water. In this study, alternative disinfection technologies were investigated due to the negative reports showing chlorine instability in the presence of organic matter and the undesirable by-product residues. Tsunami ® (15.2% peroxyacetic acid and 11.2% hydrogen peroxide) and high-power ultrasound (HPU, 0.56 kW/l, 20 kHz), alone or in combination, were evaluated in lettuce process water analyzing their ability to reduce MNV during either produce washing or water recycling. PAA concentrations of 6.4, 12.8…

Organic chlorine compounds in lake sediments. V. Bottom of Baikal near a pulp mill

1990

Abstract Organically bound chlorine (OCl) together with inorganic chloride (Cl − ) was measured from bottom surface samples of the Lake Baikal near a pulp mill and compared to organic matter contents (OM). Although total contents of OCl, Cl − and OM were much lower than, the ratio of OCl to OM was of the same order of magnitude as in pulp mill recipients of Finland.

Electrochemical Oxidation of Carboxylic Acids in Water at Boron-Doped Diamond (BDD) Anodes in the Range of Potential of Oxygen Evolution: Detection M…

2013

The electrochemical oxidation in water solutions of selected carboxylic acids (namely oxalic, formic, acetic, maleic, and succinic) at boron-doped diamond (BDD) anodes was investigated by polarization and chronoamperometric measurements. In the presence of low concentrations of carboxylic acids, current densities changed approximately linearly with the acid concentrations. Furthermore, when the current densities were plotted as a function of the chemical oxygen demand, a similar response was observed for all the investigated acids with the exception of oxalic acid. For high carboxylic acid concentrations, the linear variation is often loosen and different behaviors are observed depending on…

rac-1,1,1,6,6,6-Hexachlorohex-3-yne-2,5-diol hemihydrate

2017

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C6H4Cl6O2·0.5H2O, contains one molecule of 1,1,1,6,6,6-hexachlorohex-3-yne-2,5-diol and half a water molecule located on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, pairs of hexachlorohexynediol molecules form centrosymmetric dimers connectedviapairwise O—H...O hydrogen bonds. These dimers are connected by water molecules, resulting in layers parallel to theabplane.

Antimykotische wirkstoffe. XXI. Aliphatisch und alicyclisch substituierte chlor-diallylamino-1l,3,5-triazine

1988

By nucleophilic substitution of on…

Characterization of totally chlorine-free effluents from kraft pulp bleaching III

1999

Abstract Chemical changes in the dissolved high-molecular-mass material from silver birch (Betula pendula) kraft pulp during the oxygen–alkali delignification stage (O) and the subsequent totally chlorine-free (TCF) bleaching sequence (X–Z–EOP–AZ–EP–S) were investigated by analytical pyrolysis (pyrolysis–gas chromatography/mass-sensitive detector (Py–GC/MSD)). In addition, the pyrolysis data were subjected to chemometric analysis, resulting in a rapid method for determining with reasonable accuracy, for example, the mass proportion of carbohydrates and lignin in the effluents from each of the treatment stages. The method was calibrated by chemical analysis on the same effluents.

On the occurrence of ClO in cirrus clouds and volcanic aerosol in the tropopause region

1997

Airborne observations during descents of the ER-2 through layers of volcanic aerosol (Mount Pinatubo eruption of 1991) and a cirrus cloud are utilized to study the the abundance of ClO and its relation to aerosol surface area in the midlatitude tropopause region. During a cirrus event near the tropopause ClO mixing ratios up to 2.7 pptv were detected and near the tropopause ClO levels from a few to 70 pptv were found. These measurements are associated with large experimental uncertainties but demonstrate the possible presence of ClO inside cirrus clouds and near the tropopause. Model calculations show that possible enhancements of ClO by heterogeneous chemistry on cirrus cloud particles cou…

Comparison of Inorganic Chlorine in the Southern Hemispheric lowermost stratosphere during Late Winter 2019

2021

Inorganic chlorine (Cly) is the sum of the degradation products of long-lived chlorinated source gases. These include the reservoir species (HCl and ClONO2) and active chlorine species (i.e. ClOx). The active chlorine species drive catalytic cycles that deplete ozone in the polar winter stratosphere. This work presents calculations of inorganic chlorine (Cly) derived from chlorinated source gas measurements on board the High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft (HALO) during the Southern hemisphere Transport, Dynamic and Chemistry (SouthTRAC) campaign in late winter and early spring 2019. Results are compared to Cly of the Northern Hemisphere derived from measurements of the POLSTRACC-…

ChemInform Abstract: Polycondensed Nitrogen Heterocycles. Part 23. Pyrrolo(3,2-c)cinnolines by a Japp-Klingemann-Type Reaction.

1990

Pyrrolo[3,2-c]cinnoline derivatives were obtained by an unusual Japp-Klingemann reaction involving an intramolecular azadehalogenation on the pyrrole nucleus. Such an azadehalogenation represents the first example of Japp-Klingemann reaction in which the extrusion of positive chlorine ion is verified.
