Tematiche e suggestioni catulliane in «Carmina Burana» 119 e 120

2018

Carmina Burana (CB) 119 (Dulce solum natalis patrie) and 120 (Rumor letalis) are two medieval latin love poems of XIIth-XIIIth century which both show Catullan flavour, themes and suggestions. In this paper, after a short introduction about the very exiguous knowledge of Catull’s poems between VIth and XIIIth century, I try to give a strict analysis of CB 119 and 120, at the light of Catullan themes and suggestions which occur in these poems.

Neoclassical Growth, Environment and Technological Change: The Environmental Kuznets Curve

2009

The paper investigates socially optimal patterns of economic growth and environmental quality in a neoclassical growth model with endogenous technological progress. In the model, the environmental quality affects positively not only to utility but also to production. However, cleaner technologies can be used in the economy whether a part of the output is used in environmentally oriented R&D. In this framework, if the initial level of capital is low then the shadow price of a cleaner technology is low relative to the cost of developing it given by the marginal utility of consumption and it is not worth investing in R&D. Thus, there will be a first stage of growth based only on the accumulati…

Shape optimization for Stokes problem with threshold slip boundary conditions

2017

This paper deals with shape optimization of systems governed by the Stokes flow with threshold slip boundary conditions. The stability of solutions to the state problem with respect to a class of domains is studied. For computational purposes the slip term and impermeability condition are handled by a regularization. To get a finite dimensional optimization problem, the optimized part of the boundary is described by B´ezier polynomials. Numerical examples illustrate the computational efficiency. peerReviewed

Intellectual Capital as a Key Factor of Socio-economic Development of Regions and Countries

2013

Abstract The main goal of the paper is to present the concept of intellectual capital (IC) from regional perspective and define intangible assets as knowledge that can be converted into value or profit. Most of the measurement methods designed by now apply for measuring the intellectual capital at corporate level. Some efforts are being made to present the IC concept in the regional perspective. Development of research on a new regional approach to the intellectual capital theory has been noticed. A sample model of IC for countries and its main sub-components have been presented as well. Some selected knowledge indicators for measuring intellectual capital at national level have been illust…

Complement Protein C1q Binds to Hyaluronic Acid in the Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma Microenvironment and Promotes Tumor Growth

2017

C1q is the first recognition subcomponent of the complement classical pathway, which acts towards the clearance of pathogens and apoptotic cells. C1q is also known to modulate a range of functions of immune and non-immune cells, including their involvement in placental development and sensorial synaptic pruning. We have recently shown that C1q can promote tumour by encouraging their adhesion, migration and proliferation in addition to angiogenesis and metastasis. In this study, we have examined the role of C1q in the microenvironment of malignant pleuric mesothelioma (MPM), a rare form of cancer commonly associated with exposure to asbestos. We found that C1q was highly expressed in all MPM…

Is the Complement Protein C1q a Pro- or Anti-tumorigenic Factor? Bioinformatics Analysis Involving Human Carcinomas

2019

C1q is the first subcomponent of the classical pathway of the complement system and belongs to the C1q/Tumor Necrosis Factor superfamily. C1q can perform a diverse range of immune and non-immune functions in a complement-dependent as well as -independent manner. Being a pattern recognition molecule of the innate immunity, C1q can recognize a number of self, non-self and altered-self ligands and bring about effector mechanisms designed to clear pathogens via opsonisation and inflammatory response. C1q is locally synthesized by macrophages and dendritic cells, and thus, can get involved in a range of biological processes, such as angiogenesis and tissue remodeling, immune modulation, and immu…

Ausiàs March, en anglès i en prosa

2006

In this study we analyze the English translations of Ausiàs March already carried out (Terry, Conejero-Ribes-Keown, Wittlin and Archer), and we pay attention to the criteria and the solutions used. Here the emphasis is on those questions related to the lexicosemantic choice that determines the general strategy of the new translation into prose that the author of this study has carried out for IVITRA. The article is also concerned about the interaction between translation and the improvement of the knowledge of the original itself, as a consequence of translating it and having to understand it completely, even up to the point of proposing some amendments to the criticophylologic fixation.
