This essay offers a sampling of a multilingual contrastive analysis of poems by Ausiàs March and the ones in «Tirant lo Blanch» (original versions and their respective translations) as regards locutions, collocations and phraseology. These elements are fully characteristic of the literary language of any author and, at the same time, they indicate his degree of command of his vehicular language or of the language for literary creation. According to a letter written in 1390, Guillem Nicolau attached a full commentary to his Catalan translation of Ovid’s Heroides. Although these glosses have not survived in any of the extant manuscripts of this translation, they have been preserved in a fifteenth-century manuscript containing an anonymous Castilian version of the Catalan text. In this article, the linguistic- and literary-based identification of these Castilian glosses with those written by Nicolau leads to a further examination of the relationship of the Catalan Heroides to the Latin commentary tradition. Trace conditioning is a hippocampus-dependent task where two separate sensory stimuli are presented in contingency but with a temporal gap between. AbstractThe present work deals with experimental studies to examine the theoretical model of thermodiffusion of electrically charged nanoparticles. Three different ionic magnetic colloid samples have been synthesized and profoundly analyzed. The theoretical model is a classical one, based on the calculation of the temperature and the electric potential distribution around nanoparticles. The discrepancy between experimental data and theory turns out not to exceed 20%. We focus on applying different approximations between calculated electrical double layer in the theoretical model and experimental determination of the surface charge density of colloidal particles. Modelling of rotations by using matrix solutions of nonlinear wave equations

A family of matrix solutions of nonlinear wave equations is extended and its application to modelling is given. It is shown that a similarity transformation, induced by the matrix solution, is equivalent to the rotation. Matrix solutions are used for modelling helical motions and vortex rings, simultaneous rotations and particles collision, mapping contraction and pulsating spheres. A remark on two notions of flatness for sets in the Euclidean space

In this note we compare two ways of measuring the $n$-dimensional "flatness" of a set $S\subset \mathbb{R}^d$, where $n\in \mathbb{N}$ and $d>n$. The first one is to consider the classical Reifenberg-flat numbers $\alpha(x,r)$ ($x \in S$, $r>0$), which measure the minimal scaling-invariant Hausdorff distances in $B_r(x)$ between $S$ and $n$-dimensional affine subspaces of $\mathbb{R}^d$. The second is an `intrinsic' approach in which we view the same set $S$ as a metric space (endowed with the induced Euclidean distance). Two examples related to conical energies

In a recent article we introduced and studied conical energies. We used them to prove three results: a characterization of rectifiable measures, a characterization of sets with big pieces of Lipschitz graphs, and a sufficient condition for boundedness of nice singular integral operators. In this note we give two examples related to sharpness of these results. One of them is due to Joyce and M\"{o}rters, the other is new and could be of independent interest as an example of a relatively ugly set containing big pieces of Lipschitz graphs.
Monoclonal antibodies against components of the classical pathway of complement.

Activation of the classical pathway of complement involves several binding and enzymatic cleavage processes. Binding and enzymatic activation results in the appearance of new structures in the individual components. This report describes the different activation steps for C1q, C1r, C1s, C4 and C2 and summarizes monoclonal antibodies reported so far which recognize either conserved epitopes or activation-dependent epitopes with particular emphasis on neoepitopes occurring during the activation cascade.
C1q-bearing immune complexes detected by a monoclonal antibody to human C1q in rheumatoid arthritis sera and synovial fluids

Using a monoclonal antibody directed against the C-chain of human C1q, we detected C1q-bearing immune complexes (IC) in sera and synovial fluids of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. In a sandwich-ELISA, C1q-bearing IC were captured by the solid-phase monoclonal antibody and then detected with peroxidase-labeled F(ab')2-antibodies to either human IgG or IgM. The results of this assay were compared to an ELISA-modification of the C1q-solid-phase binding assay (C1q-SPBA). C1q-bearing IC were detected in 81.1% of RA-sera and the 65.2% of RA-synovial fluids. IgG as well as IgM was present in 72.6% of the sera and 70% of the synovial fluids which were positive in both assays. Most RA sera that …
