This paper presents a review of the use of the neuroimaging technique called Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) in sign language (SL) research. In the field of neurolinguistics, ERPs have been widely used in the study of spoken language, but their use in SL is still rare. Gestalt Theory, Data Decomposition and Functional Architecture in Visual Neuroscience

Classical and recent result about neuronal properties, and their functions and architectural design prompted claims to bring gestalt theory to bear on neurosciences reserach. It is deemed to contribute to understand brain mechanism through descriptions of visual functions expected to be wired in the brain. The standard models of data decomposition and functional architecture in visual neuroscience are discussed. Such issues as visual primitives identification and neuronal activity integration in gestaltist terms are introduced.

Few studies have investigated differences in functional connectivity (FC) between patients with subcortical ischemic vascular disease (SIVD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), especially in relation to apathy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare apathy-related FC changes among patients with SIVD, AD, and cognitively normal subjects. The SIVD group had the highest level of apathy as measured using the Apathy Evaluation Scale-clinician version (AES).
