Dalītās ekonomikas ietekme uz tajā ieinteresētajām personām Eiropas transporta nozarē
2019
The role of sense of community in harnessing the wisdom of crowds and creating collaborative knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic
2021
Abstract This study investigates the role of sense of community in harnessing the wisdom of the crowd and creating collaborative knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also explores the impact of collaborative knowledge creation on the perceived value of social media crowdsourcing in such crises. PLS-SEM was used to analyze the data and test the research model. The results show that sense of community has a significant role in harnessing the wisdom of the crowd and creating collaborative knowledge. The results confirm a significant impact of sense of community, the wisdom of the crowd, and collaborative knowledge creation on the perceived value of social media crowdsourcing in respondin…
Towards new social dimensions for children's music making - JamMo as a collaborative and communal M-learning environment
2009
Children’s collaborative music making has recently gained a lot of interest in the field of musical development and learning. Mobile learning (M-learning) is a relatively new field of educational research and so far there has been only few studies about children’s musical collaboration with mobile devices. Current knowledge of children’s social development forms a basis for communicational design of the ubiquitous learning environment. In the present study, which is a part of EU FP7 UMSIC research project, a software JamMo (Jamming mobile) will be designed for the Nokia N810 Internet tablet. In this paper, we report on the communal features of JamMo, which are specified to Jammo’s different…
Introduction to: Enabling Collaborative Governance through Systems Modeling Methods
2020
This opening chapter sets out a structure for considering collaborative governance for public policy and managerial problem-solving through systemic principles, as well as through the use of group processes to facilitate agreement and buy-in in collective strategies. Such a collection of tools, techniques, and frameworks is needed to establish the value of these approaches and to accelerate their dissemination through the field.
Collaborative Writing with Wikis: Pedagogical and Technological Implications for Successful Implementation in Teacher Education
2012
Wikis have been promoted as tools that foster collaborative learning and writing. They enable multiple users to edit a document collaboratively and support online written communication between participants. While most wiki research is based on students’ subjective perceptions of the wiki learning environment, a number of studies have drawn on the data log that is automatically generated by wikis. The data log enables the analysis of students’ activities performed on the wiki in terms of work distribution, level of contribution, types of activities, timing of contribution, and work intervals. This information is more reliable to analyze collaborative writing activities than subjective percep…
A collaborative writing approach to wikis: Design, implementation, and evaluation
2011
Published version of an article from the journal:Issues in Informing Science and Information Technology. Also available from the publisher: http://iisit.org/Vol8/IISITv8p431-449Hadjerrouit224.pdf Wikis provide teachers with potentially significant opportunities for creating socially engaged tasks that require active student participation and collaboration. Wikis allow students to work together to develop content on the web, giving them a sense of how writing can be carried out collaboratively. Collaborative writing offer opportunities not only to practice literature review, academic reading and writing, but also to stimulate reflection, knowledge sharing, and critical thinking. However, des…
Educational Perspectives on Scripting CSCL
2007
This chapter discusses different educational approaches to collaboration scripts. When carefully designed, scripts can push learners to that kind of situations in which meaningful interaction can take place. However, many conditions need to be met for this to happen in authentic classroom contexts. One of the biggest educational challenges in instructional design of computer-supported collaboration scripts is to better integrate them into wider social planes such as overall classroom activities. Scripts could also be considered as contextual and situated resources in collaborative learning environments. Furthermore, a challenge for future research is to explore how external scripts can be g…
Secure Collaborative Learning Practices and Mobile Technology
2008
During the past few years, mobile technologies have become common in everyday life. Almost everyone carry some kind of mobile technological equipment with him or her, for example a personal digital assistant (PDA), a mobile phone, a multimedia player, such as an iPod, or a laptop computer. The use of these equipments is not limited only to workplaces, schools or homes. Particularly useful information and communication technologies (ICTs) are in educational settings. Especially wireless networks and laptop computers may promote many useful practices of collaborative learning (Cutshall, Changchit, & Elwood, 2006; Jones, Holmfeld, & Lindström, 2006). On the one hand, the use of mobile …
Scripting Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning
2010
In this chapter, we will present a review of theoretical and empirical analyses of Web-based collaboration processes used during a scripted university course. The results refer to a design-based study that involved first-year teacher-education students (N = 30) studying pedagogy over a period of three months. The intervention involved structuring the subjects’ collaborative actions with three different pedagogical scripts. According to the findings, the scripts guided students’ activities by helping them find resources for knowledge construction and work together through a series of steps. However, there were variations among groups in terms of quality of collaboration, and the students mos…
