Collective Intentionality, Language, and Normativity: A Problem and a Possible Solution for the Analysis of Cooperation
2015
In this paper I discuss Searle's analysis of social ontology in the light of his account of the sources of normativity as rooted in the logical structure of language. I conclude that, though his theory of normativity may appear to be inconsistent with his theory collective intentionality, it is really our Background sense of the other that creates a sense of community even before the actual functioning of collective intentionality and language, thereby escaping the dilemma between individualism and collectivism.
Sources and Boundaries of Institutional and Linguistic Normativity. Towards a Critical Social Ontology.
2013
Since Hegel and until speech acts theory and contemporary social ontology it came to full development the idea that most of reasons, duties, rights, entitlements, have to do, against Kant, with our participation to social, linguistic and institutional practices of the lifeform to which we belong rather than or more than with our dealing with “substantive moral principles”. But if we accept, with Hegel, that every individual rational determination of the will is justified as such only as a part of our collective Sittlichkheit (Hegel, 1967, cf. Di Lorenzo Ajello, 2009); if we accept from speech acts theory that there are commitments, rights and entitlements specific to every type of speech ac…
Ilustración, cómic y compromiso social. Crónica de una exposición en movimiento
2017
[EN] This article describes an exhibition project that puts to value the relationship between graphic illustration, comics, and social commitment through numerous examples of commissions and personal works carried out by today’s Valencian authors. Divided into eleven thematic areas or social causes, the exhibition offers a wide array of styles and poetics, focused on acting as speaker of the claims of various invisible groups
BARGAINING WITH COMMITMENT UNDER AN UNCERTAIN DEADLINE
2006
We consider an infinite horizon bargaining game in which a deadline can arise with positive probability and where players possess an endogenous commitment device. We show that for any truncation of the game, the equilibrium agreement can only take place if the deadline arises within this finite horizon. Since the deadline is an uncertain event, the equilibrium exhibits agreements which are delayed with positive probability.

The importance of Organizational Commitment to Knowledge Management
2008
In recent years, Knowledge Management (KM) has assumed great importance in the literature on business and management. However, we still have so little understanding of the human issues in KM processes. Thus, this research aims to contribute to analysing the importance of Organizational Commitment (OC) to KM. First, we used the Cardoso (2003) Knowledge Management Questionnaire (QGC) that embraces all organizational activities around knowledge processes and distinguishes four dimensions of KM. Secondly we applied the Quijano, Masip, Navarro and Aubert (1997) questionnaire (ASH-ICI) that distinguishes two types of commitment (personal and instrumental) into four dimensions. These two questionn…
Organizational Learning Capability and Job Satisfaction: an Empirical Assessment in the Ceramic Tile Industry
2009
Organizational learning capability has been considered an essential issue of an organization's effectiveness and potential to innovate and grow. Although its positive effects on organizations and employees are generally assumed, there is no empirical evidence of its positive association with employee attitudes such as job satisfaction. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between organizational learning capability and job satisfaction through the questionnaire responses of 157 employees from eight companies in the Spanish ceramic tile industry. Results suggest that organizational learning capability and job satisfaction are strongly linked.
Moderating influence of organizational justice on the relationship between job insecurity and its outcomes: A multilevel analysis
2010
A great amount of research has illustrated the evident prevalence of job insecurity in working life and its harmful outcomes for employees and organizations. Some authors have identified factors that can reduce this negative influence. However, up until now, most of these factors have only been studied at an individual level, without taking into account the fact that contextual conditions can play a moderating role in organizations. Following this perspective, this article analyses the moderator role of organizational justice and organizational justice climate in the relationship between job insecurity and its outcomes. The study was carried out with a sample of 942 employees from 47 Spanis…
