A geometrical framework for f –statistics

AbstractA detailed derivation of the f–statistics formalism is made from a geometrical framework. It is shown that the f–statistics appear when a genetic distance matrix is constrained to describe a four population phylogenetic tree. The choice of genetic metric is crucial and plays an outstanding role as regards the tree–like–ness criterion. The case of lack of treeness is interpreted in the formalism as presence of population admixture. In this respect, four formulas are given to estimate the admixture proportions. This has led to a growing interest in research-based knowledge. Updating an earlier article, we undertake a systematic literature review of guidance research in the Nordic countries during this 15-year period. Features and themes, both country-specific and in the region as a whole, are revealed through the analysis of a variety of research documents. The comparison is focused on children from two groups: North Africans in France and Mexicans in the US. By using two longitudinal datasets, the French Educational Panel Survey and Add Health, we examine aspirations, expectations and attainment in secondary education in the two contexts. The main objectives of this study were: to compare the barriers to active commuting to and from school (ACS) between children and their parents separately for children and adolescents; and to analyze the association between ACS and the children’s and parents’ barriers. The ability to derive SO 2 emission rates directly from the acquired imagery at high time resolution allows volcanic process studies that incorporate other high time-resolution datasets. THE EFFECTS OF PEOPLES’ HEIGHT AND RELATIVE HEIGHT ON WELL-BEING

Using a rich Italian survey, we investigate the effect of height on individual happiness. From our analysis it emerges that a large part of the effect of height on well-being is driven by a positive correlation between height and economic and health conditions. However, for young males the effect of height on happiness persists even after controlling for these variables, implying that height may produce some psycho-social direct effects on well-being. Consistent with this hypothesis, we find that males care not only about their own height but also about the height of people in their reference group. Radar-rain gauges intercomparison for the estimation of high resolution rainfall.

An accurate rainfall estimation is essential for many applications like precision viticulture. Rainfall is most of the time estimated by two methods:radar and rain gauges. High resolution rain gauges network Hydravitis was installed in 2014. Data coming from radar,composite product and the network was extracted for the 2014 3 to 4 November event. Data from the network were kriged tocompare with the other products. Results show that PANTHERE radar image well reproduces the spatial variability ofrainfall but underestimates rainfall amounts over a 4 mm/h intensité.
