A search has been performed for B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} and B{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} decays using 7 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The observed number of B{sup 0} candidates is consistent with background-only expectations and yields an upper limit on the branching fraction of {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}) < 6.0 x 10{sup -9} at 95% confidence level. We observe an excess of B{sub s}{sup 0} candidates. The probability that the background processes alone could produce such an excess or larger is 0.27%. Effect of high methoxyl pectin on pea protein in aqueous solution and at oil/water interface

International audience; The effect of the addition of high methoxyl pectin on the stability of pea protein isolate emulsions was investigated. Except for low pectin concentrations at acidic pHs where bridging flocculation occurred the addition of pectin improved emulsion stability to pH changes and depletion flocculation induced by maltodextrin addition. The mechanism of pectin induced stability was probed by measuring protein-pectin complex formation in solution, zeta potential of the emulsions droplets and the change in surface viscoelasticity on pectin addition. Using microtomography, image analysis and flow simulations to characterize soil surface seals

Raindrops that impact on soil surface affect the pore structure and form compact soil surface seals. Damaged pore structure reduces water infiltration which can lead to increased soil erosion. We introduce here methods to characterize the properties of surface seals in a detailed manner. These methods include rainfall simulations, x-ray microtomography, image analysis and pore-scale flow simulations. Methods were tested using clay soil samples, and the results indicate that the sealing process changes several properties of the pore structure.
Implementation of multicommutation principle with flow-through multioptosensors

Abstract For the first time, the combination of multicommutation concept with flow-through multioptosensors is exploited and a biparameter multicommutated UV sensor is developed. A very easy-operated and automated sensing device is proposed here and demonstrated to be useful in the routine analysis by applying it to the determination of two widely used pharmaceuticals chosen as model analytes: salicylamide and caffeine. Asymptotic regime in N random interacting species

The asymptotic regime of a complex ecosystem with \emph{N}random interacting species and in the presence of an external multiplicative noise is analyzed. We find the role of the external noise on the long time probability distribution of the i-th density species, the extinction of species and the local field acting on the i-th population. We analyze in detail the transient dynamics of this field and the cavity field, which is the field acting on the $i^{th}$ species when this is absent. We find that the presence or the absence of some population give different asymptotic distributions of these fields.

Abstract In the atmosphere, cloud and fog droplets usually contain insoluble material. The role of these insoluble particles is still unknown today, and is of interest to study. To determine the size distribution and number concentration of these particles in water, different techniques are available. The instrumentation, however, to measure nanometer-sized particles down to 50 nm diameter is not known.
