Fractal Weyl law for open quantum chaotic maps
2014
We study the semiclassical quantization of Poincar\'e maps arising in scattering problems with fractal hyperbolic trapped sets. The main application is the proof of a fractal Weyl upper bound for the number of resonances/scattering poles in small domains near the real axis. This result encompasses the case of several convex (hard) obstacles satisfying a no-eclipse condition.
Increased susceptibility to predation and altered anti-predator behaviour in an acanthocephalan-infected amphipod.
2007
7 pages; International audience; According to the 'parasitic manipulation hypothesis', phenotypic changes induced by parasites in their intermediate hosts are effective means of increasing trophic transmission to final hosts. One obvious prediction, although seldom tested, is that increased vulnerability of infected prey to an appropriate predator should be achieved by the parasite altering the anti-predator behaviour of its intermediate host. In this study, we tested this prediction using the fish acanthocephalan Pomphorhynchus tereticollis and the freshwater amphipod Gammarus pulex. Firstly, we estimated the relative vulnerability of infected and uninfected gammarids to predation by the b…
Modification of hosts' behavior by a parasite: field evidence for adaptive manipulation.
2007
9 pages; International audience; Parasites relying on trophic transmission to complete their life cycles often induce modifications of their host's behavior in ways that may increase their susceptibility to predation by final hosts. These modifications have often been interpreted as parasite adaptations, but very few studies have demonstrated that host manipulation has fitness benefits for the parasite. The aim of the present study was to address the adaptive significance of parasite manipulation by coupling observations of behavioral manipulation to estimates of trophic transmission to the definitive host in the natural environment. We show that the acanthocephalan parasite Pomphorhynchus …
Variabilité pluviométrique et dynamique hydro-sédimentaire du bassin versant du complexe fluvio-lagunaire Mono-Ahémé-Couffo (Afrique de l'ouest)
2010
This thesis aims to highlight the relationship between climate and water balance process on the basin of the complex river-lagoon Mono-Aheme-Couffo. A better analysis rain/flow is made using rainfall spatialization from interpolation, taking into account altitude and geographical coordinates of hydrometeorological stations. Also, pluvio-hydrological variability and surface states dynamics impacts on sedimentation are examined. Runoff variability and sediment dynamics in the watershed Mono-Aheme-Couffo over the period 1961-2000 in a context of integrated water resources management (IWRM) were analyzed according to the rainfall depths, effects of water releases from the Nangbeto dam operation…
Etude de la stabilité de films industriels de PLA et de leur modification de surface pour des applications en tant qu'emballage alimentaire biodégrad…
2017
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and renewable polyester, which is considered as the most promising eco-friendly substitute of conventional plastics. It is mainly used for food packaging applications, but some drawbacks still reduce its applications. On the one hand, its low barrier performance to gases (e.g. O2 and CO2) limits its use for applications requiring low gas transfer, such as modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) or for carbonate beverage packaging. On the other hand, its natural water sensitivity, which contributes to its biodegradation, limits its use for high moisture foods with long shelf life.Other biopolymers such as wheat gluten (WG) can be considered as interesti…

Towards Iron(II) Complexes with Octahedral Geometry: Synthesis, Structure and Photophysical Properties
2020
The control of ligand-field splitting in iron (II) complexes is critical to slow down the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT)-excited states deactivation pathways. The gap between the metal-centered states is maximal when the coordination sphere of the complex approaches an ideal octahedral geometry. Two new iron(II) complexes (C1 and C2), prepared from pyridylNHC and pyridylquinoline type ligands, respectively, have a near-perfect octahedral coordination of the metal. The photophysics of the complexes have been further investigated by means of ultrafast spectroscopy and TD-DFT modeling. For C1, it is shown that&mdash
Polyamines and applications. A look at the first workshop in linear and cyclic polyamines chemistry
2008
Given their versatile coordination properties, cyclic and linear polyamines are the subject of numerous worksin many research groups. This great interest is mainly related to their use in diverse fields such as removalof metals from liquids, purification of gases, application in catalysis, in sensors, as well as in various probesfor medical applications. This paper summarizes recent results obtained by the French research groupswhich attended the first ìworkshop in linear and cyclic polyamines chemistryî.
