Spectroscopy and Coordination Chemistry of a New Bisnaphthalene−Bisphenanthroline Ligand Displaying a Sensing Ability for Metal Cations

2005

A new fluorescent macrocyclic structure (L1) bearing two naphthalene units at both ends of a cyclic polyaminic chain containing two phenanthroline units was investigated with potentiometric and fluorescence (steady-state and time-resolved) techniques. The fluorescence emission spectra show the simultaneous presence of three bands: a short wavelength emission band (naphthalene monomer), a middle emission band (phenanthroline emission), and a long-wavelength band. All three bands were found to be dependent on the protonation state of the macrocyclic unit (including the polyaminic and phenanthroline structures). The existence of the long-wavelength emission band is discussed and is shown to im…

2019

Abstract Three heterobimetallic platinum (II)/ruthenium (II) and platinum (II)/rhodium (III) complexes, A: Pt{S–S2C2(NR)2H}{μ-S2C2(NR)2}-[Ru (p-cymene)Cl], R = isoamyl; B: Pt{S–S2C2(NR)2H}{μ-S2C2(NR)2}[Rh (phpy)2], R = isoamyl; C: [Pt{S–S2C2(NR)2H}{μ-S2C2(NR)2}-[Rh(C5Me5)Cl]], R = benzyl, were prepared from mononuclear complexes 1 and 2, 1: [Pt (H-isoamyl2DTO)2]; 2: [Pt (H-benzyl2DTO)2], DTO = dithiooxamide, by reaction of 1 or 2 with the corresponding chlorido-bridged dimers, [Rh(C5Me5)Cl (μ-Cl)]2, [Ru (p-cymene)Cl (μ-Cl)]2 or [Rh (phpy)2 (μ-Cl)]2, and then evaluated as anticancer agents for the inhibition of the three proteolytic activities of human 20S proteasome, one of the main target …

Theoretical Studies of the Reactivity of Cyclopentadienyl Nitrosyl Alkyl Species of Molybdenum and Tungsten

2000

International audience; The reactivity differences observed experimentally for Cp*W(NO)(CH2CMe3)2 and CpMo(NO)(CH2CMe3)2 have been investigated using density functional theory (DFT) techniques. The reactions of the CpW(NO)(CH2) model complex with NH3 and CH4 are more exothermic and have lower activation barriers than the corresponding processes for CpMo(NO)(CH2). The η2(C,H) methane complex CpM(NO)(CH2)(CH4) (M = Mo, W) can undergo two competitive processes:  C−H activation to afford CpM(NO)(CH3)2 or loss of methane. The relative barrier heights are almost identical for M = W, whereas the formation of CpM(NO)(CH3)2 is significantly disfavored for M = Mo. The activation of C−H and N−H bonds …

Micelles as containers for self-assembled nanodevices: a fluorescent sensor for lipophilicity

2008

Potentiometric titrations, fluorescence versus pH titrations, dynamic light scattering and fluorescence polarization anisotropy studies demonstrate that inside the nanodimensioned Triton X-100 micelles, 1-pyrenecarboxylic acid, PCOO-, forms an apical complex with the Zn2+ cation encircled by a lipophilic cyclen ligand and hugely increasing its fluorescence. The ability of the Zn2+-cyclen-PCOO- complex plus its micellar container to act as a fluorescent sensor to evaluate the lipophilicity of molecular species is demonstrated on the fatty acid series CH 3(CH2)xCOOH (x=0-16). At pH 7.4 a decrease in fluorescence is observed on the addition of fatty acids that is directly related to their chai…

Influence of structural elements on iron(III) chelating properties in a new series of amino acid-derived monohydroxamates

2018

Abstract A series of amino acid-derived monohydroxamate compounds A1 – A7 was synthesized and characterized for their coordination properties of Fe(III). The series varies in their skeletal lengths and compositions; some compounds lack external substituents, others are substituted with external functional amino or carboxylic groups, or alternatively inert methyl. Undertaken investigations allowed the determination of stoichiometry, stability constants and spectroscopic parameters of formed ferric complexes. Incorporation of an external functional group with a dissociable proton affects the coordination behavior; the presence of carboxylic or amino groups hampers the formation of mono-, di- …

Synthesis of β-P,N Aminophosphines and Coordination Chemistry to PdII. X-ray Structures of [PdCl2(Ph2PCH2CH(Ph)NHPh-κP,κN)] and [PdCl(η3-C3H5)(Ph2PCH…

2001

The reaction of the CN bond in PhCHNPh with the carbanionic species Ph2PCH2-, leading to the N-phenyl β-aminophosphine Ph2PCH2CH(Ph)NHPh, L1, is described. This molecule reacts with different organ...

Enantiodivergent synthesis of P-chirogenic phosphines

2010

International audience; Several approaches for the enantiodivergent synthesis of P-chirogenic mono- and diphosphines are described, using ephedrine methodology and phosphine borane chemistry. Firstly, both enantiomers of a tertiary phosphine can be obtained starting from the same oxazaphospholidine borane complex, prepared from (+)-ephedrine, when changing the order of addition of the organolithium reagents during the synthetic pathway. The second approach is based on the chlorophosphine boranes, which react with an organolithium reagent, to afford the corresponding phosphines with inversion of configuration. In the case where the chlorophosphine borane reacts with the t-butyl lithium reage…

Highly Functionalized Brønsted Acidic/Lewis Basic Hybrid Ferrocene Ligands: Synthesis and Coordination Chemistry

2019

International audience; A general challenging issue in the synthesis of hemilabile ferrocene ligands is the access to highly functionalized ferrocene starting materials. These can bear donor/acceptor atoms, additional functional and structuring spectator substituents, but the preparation of such species poses general synthetic difficulties. We report herein alternative synthetic routes to hybrid ferrocene donors such as tert-butylated phosphanylcarboxylic acids and their corresponding aldehydes. These hybrid ambiphilic species that combine Brønsted-acidic and Lewis-basic functional moieties in their structure were characterized by multinuclear NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analys…

Ion pair complexes and anion binding in the solution of a ditopic receptor.

2016

The synthesis and crystal structures with alkali halides of a ditopic benzo-15-crown-5 bis-urea receptor have been presented. In addition, the anion binding properties of and its alkali metal complexes in solution are presented. A comprehensive single-crystal X-ray crystallographic study of , all together 13 crystal structures, including the ion pair complexes with NaCl, NaBr, NaI, KF, KCl, KBr, KI, RbF, RbCl, and RbI, give a detailed view of how behaves in the solid-state with different alkali halides depending on the size of the cation and anion. In the solid-state forms a 1 : 1 complex with a sodium cation and the anion is complexed as a contact (NaCl) or a separate ion pair (NaBr, NaI).…
