This study aimed for a detailed understanding of the impact of different process parameters involved during celecoxib-loaded microsphere preparation based on propylene carbonate emulsion-precursors.Microspheres were prepared by a modified emulsification-solvent extraction method. Morphology, interfacial interaction, and thermal degradation of polycarbonate/MCM-41 (nano)composites

ABSTRACTThis article reports on the morphology, interfacial interaction, thermal stability, and thermal degradation kinetics of polycarbonate (PC)/mesoporous silica (MCM-41) composites with various MCM-41 contents, prepared by melt compounding. The composites with low filler loadings (<0.3 wt%) maintained their transparency because of the well dispersed MCM-41 particles, but at higher filler loadings the composites lost their transparency due to the presence of agglomerates. The presence of agglomerates decreased the thermal stability of PC due to the reduced effectiveness of the particles to immobilize the polymer chains, free radicals, and volatile degradation products.

ABSTRACT: In this study, the influence of the preparation technique (ball milling, spray drying, and film casting) of a supersaturated amorphous dispersion on the quality of solubility determinations of indomethacin in polyvinylpyrrolidone was investigated by means of statistical analysis. After annealing of the amorphous dispersions above the crystallization temperature for 2 h, the solubility curve was derived from the glass transition temperature of the demixed material using the Gordon–Taylor relationship and fitting with the Flory–Huggins model. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the compounding apparatus and of processing conditions on the properties of an organoclay-poly[ethylene-co-(vinyl acetate)] (EVA) nanocomposite. The filled materials were prepared using either a discontinuous batch mixer, a single screw extruder, a counter rotating intermeshing twin-screw compounder or a corotating intermeshing twin-screw extruder.
