The goal of this paper is to propose a system that can extract formal semantic knowledge representation from natural language eGov policies. We present an architecture that allows for extracting Controlled Natural Language (CNL) statements from heterogeneous natural language texts with the ability to support multilinguality. The Optical Multiplexer Board for the ATLAS Hadronic Tile Calorimeter

This paper presents the architecture and the status of the optical multiplexer board (OMB) for the ATLAS/LHC tile hadronic calorimeter (TileCal). This board will analyze the front-end data CRC to prevent bit and burst errors produced by radiation. Besides, due to its position within the data acquisition chain it will be used to emulate front-end data for tests. The first two prototypes of the final OMB 9U version have been produced at CERN. Detailed design issues and manufacturing features of these prototypes are described. These prototypes are being validated while firmware developments are being implemented in the programmable devices of the board.

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN will start data acquisition in 2007. The ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC Apparatus) experiment is preparing for the data handling and analysis via a series of Data Challenges and production exercises to validate its computing model and to provide useful samples of data for detector and physics studies. The last Data Challenge, begun in June 2004 and ended in early 2005, was the first performed completely in a Grid environment. The work presented in this paper aims to combine Latent Semantic Analysis methodology, common sense and traditional knowledge representation in order to improve the dialogue capabilities of a conversational agent. In our approach the agent brain is characterized by two areas: a "rational area", composed by a structured, rule-based knowledge base, and an "associative area", obtained through a data- driven semantic space. Concepts are mapped in this space and their mutual geometric distance is related to their conceptual similarity. International audience; In this paper, we present two deterministic leader election algorithms for programmable matter on the face-centered cubic grid. The face-centered cubic grid is a 3-dimensional 12-regular infinite grid that represents an optimal way to pack spheres (i.e., spherical particles or modules in the context of the programmable matter) in the 3-dimensional space.
