One-photon decay of the tetraquark stateX(3872)→γ+J/ψin a relativistic constituent quark model with infrared confinement

2011

We further explore the consequences of treating the $X(3872)$ meson as a tetraquark bound state by analyzing its one-photon decay $X\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ in the framework of our approach developed in previous papers which incorporates quark confinement in an effective way. To introduce electromagnetism we gauge a nonlocal effective Lagrangian describing the interaction of the $X(3872)$ meson with its four constituent quarks by using the $P$-exponential path-independent formalism. We calculate the matrix element of the transition $X\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ and prove its gauge invariance. We evaluate the $X\ens…

Analyzing the Boer-Mulders function within different quark models

2009

A general formalism for the evaluation of time reversal odd parton distributions is applied here to calculate the Boer-Mulders function. The same formalism when applied to evaluate the Sivers function led to results which fulfill the Burkardt sum rule quite well. The calculation here has been performed for two different models of proton structure: a constituent quark model and the MIT bag model. In the latter case, important differences are found with respect to a previous evaluation in the same framework, a feature already encountered in the calculation of the Sivers function. The results obtained are consistent with the present wisdom, i.e., the contributions for the $u$ and $d$ flavors t…

GENERALIZED PARTON DISTRIBUTIONS AND COMPOSITE CONSTITUENT QUARKS

2003

An approach is proposed to calculate Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in a Constituent Quark Model (CQM) scenario, considering the constituent quarks as complex systems. The GPDs are obtained from the wave functions of the non relativistic CQM of Isgur and Karl, convoluted with the GPDs of the constituent quarks themselves. The latter are modelled by using the structure functions of the constituent quark, the double distribution representation of GPDs, and a recently proposed phenomenological constituent quark form factor. The present approach permits to access a kinematical range corresponding to both the DGLAP and the ERBL regions, for small values of the momentum transfer and of t…

Generalized Parton Distributions in Constituent Quark Models

2002

An approach is proposed to calculate Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in a Constituent Quark Model (CQM) scenario. These off-diagonal distributions are obtained from momentum space wave functions to be evaluated in a given non relativistic or relativized CQM. The general relations linking the twist-two GPDs to the form factors and to the leading twist quark densities are consistently recovered from our expressions. Results for the leading twist, unpolarized GPD, H, in a simple harmonic oscillator model, as well as in the Isgur and Karl model, are shown to have the general behavior found in previous estimates. NLO evolution of the obtained distributions, from the low momentum scale of…

Study of exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays ofBc−in a nonrelativistic quark model

2006

We present results for different observables measured in semileptonic and non-leptonic decays of the $B_c^-$ meson. The calculations have been done within the framework of a nonrelativistic constituent quark model. In order to check the sensitivity of all our results against the inter-quark interaction we use five different quark--quark potentials. We obtain form factors, decay widths and asymmetry parameters for semileptonic $B_c^-\to c\bar c$ and $B_c^-\to \bar B$ decays. In the limit of infinite heavy quark mass our model reproduces the constraints of heavy quark spin symmetry. For the actual heavy quark masses we find nonetheless large corrections to that limiting situation for some for…

Quark model predictions for the SU(6)-breaking ratio of the proton momentum distributions

2003

The ratio between the anomalous magnetic moments of proton and neutron has been recently parametrized by the ratio of proton momentum fractions $M_{2}^{q_{val}}$. This ratio is evaluated using different constituent quark models, starting from the CQM density distributions and calculating the next-to leading order distributions. We show that this momentum fractions $M_{2}^{q_{val}}$ ratio is a sensitive test for SU(6)-breaking effects and therefore it is useful to distinguish among different CQMs. We investigate also the possibility of getting constraints on the formulation of quark structure models.

Light-cone quark model with spin force for the nucleon and Δ (1232)

1992

Abstract Electromagnetic structure functions for the nucleon, static observables for the nucleon and N → Δ (1232) transition form factors are calculated in a relativistic constituent quark model on the light cone. The model simulates the main effect of the spin force between quarks in terms of smaller (and lighter) scalar ud diquarks in the nucleon. The polarized proton structure function is found to agree with the EMC data.

Quark-model study of few-baryon systems

2005

We review the application of non-relativistic constituent quark models to study one, two and three non-strange baryon systems. We present results for the baryon spectra, potentials and observables of the NN, N$\Delta$, $\Delta\Delta$ and NN$^*(1440)$ systems, and also for the binding energies of three non-strange baryon systems. We make emphasis on observable effects related to quark antisymmetry and its interplay with quark dynamics.

Nucleon Structure Functions in a Constituent Quark Scenario

1999

Using a simple picture of the constituent quark as a composite system of point-like partons, we construct the polarized part on distributions by a convolution between constituent quark momentum distributions and constituent quark structure functions. We achieve good agreement with experiments in the unpolarized as well as in the polarized case, though a good description of the recent polarized neutron data requires the introduction of one more paramater. When our results are compared with similar calculations using non-composite constituent quarks, the accord with the experiments of the present scheme is impressive. We conclude that DIS data are consistent with a low energy scenario dominat…

Spin, helicity and flavour patterns in exclusive decays of bottom mesons into baryon-antibaryon pairs

1989

I use the constituent quark model to calculate the exclusive decays of bottom mesons into ground state baryon-antibaryon pairs mediated by the weakb→c and b→u transitions. TheW-exchange contributions to these decays are found to be negligible. For theW-decay contributions I find that the simple colour-flavour structure of the 1/2+ and 3/2+ ground state baryons together with the current-current nonleptonic Hamiltonian leads to many simple and testable predictions. Notable among these is the predicted vanishing of decays involving 3/2+ baryons as in\(\overline {B^0 } (B^ - ) \to 3/2^ + \overline {1/2^ + } \) and\(\overline {B^0 } (B^ - ) \to 3/2^ + \overline {3/2^ + } \). An experimental veri…
