Jaunais vīriešu skaistumkopšanas bizness: Tendences efekts vai vai patiesais nākotnes tirgus?

2019

This research highlights the development of the beauty male market in the world, we will focus on the developed countries where this specific market is omnipresent. In the 21st century, aesthetics takes a more important place in our society, and the man finds himself curiously at the heart of this trend. Moreover, his role becomes blurred because of the similarity of the sexes. The man then begins to invest territories that were until now unknown to him such as fashion and cosmetics. Today, the range of men's cosmetics is growing, and products are becoming increasingly diversified. It then becomes interesting to understand the reasons that led to this profound change in mentalities, and mor…

50 Shades of Green: Insights into Personal Values and Worldviews as Drivers of Green Purchasing Intention, Behaviour, and Experience

2021

Despite the booming interest in determinants of green (i.e., sustainable) consumption, the psychological factors that influence pro-environmental consumption patterns are not yet fully understood. To answer this call, we developed and analysed a model that offers an integrative approach to sustainable consumption patterns by addressing the full palette of consumers’ personal value orientations. Specifically, we linked consumers’ egoistic, altruistic, and biospheric values at the personal level to pro-environmental purchasing intentions, behaviours, and experiences. Furthermore, we examined whether implicit beliefs about the balance between humanity and nature (i.e., worldviews) moderate the…

A behavioural reasoning perspective on the consumption of local food. A study on REKO, a social media-based local food distribution system

2021

Consumption of local food is increasing due to its convenience and multiple perceived benefits. However, the factors shaping consumer attitude towards local food and brand love for local food have received limited academic attention. The study thus investigates the under-explored concept of self-identity, attitude towards local food, and brand love, along with contextual variables with respect to local food consumption. Behavioural Reasoning Theory (BRT) is adopted as the theoretical frame in which self-identity is utilised as value, supporting the environment and positive product perception about the food sold by REKO are the reasons for choosing local food, and negative product perception…

Firstborns buy better for the greater good: Birth order differences in green consumption values

2022

Despite multiple studies on the role of birth order in shaping human personality, marketing literature has largely neglected its role in shaping consumer behavior. We conducted a high-powered birth-order study on several consumption-related measures (Nmain analyses = 1358), which consistently enabled us to detect effect sizes even smaller than d = 0.20 with a power of 0.90. Participants filled out scales measuring susceptibility to normative interpersonal influence, the need for uniqueness, and the tendency to express the value of environmental protection through purchases and consumption behaviors. At a general level, we did not find any support for the notion that firstborns (vs. laterbor…

Mapping and assessing ecosystem services in the EU:Lessons learned from the ESMERALDA approach of integration

2018

The European Union (EU) Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action ESMERALDA aimed at developing guidance and a flexible methodology for Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services (MAES) to support the EU member states in the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy's Target 2 Action 5. ESMERALDA's key tasks included network creation, stakeholder engagement, enhancing ecosystem services mapping and assessment methods across various spatial scales and value domains, work in case studies and support of EU member states in MAES implementation. Thus ESMERALDA aimed at integrating various project outcomes around four major strands: i) Networking, ii) Policy, iii) Research an…

Correction of the unfavourable effects of vasopressin by nitroglycerin infusion

1982

Nitroglycerin was administered with vasopressin to prevent adverse effects. Vasopressin 0.25U . 70 kg-1 min-1 was infused intravenously in four dogs for 40 minutes, when a venous infusion of nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 was added for 20 minutes. Nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 alone was infused intravenously in another four dogs for 40 minutes. The venous blood pressures (mesenteric and central) and arterial pressures (mesenteric and femoral), the electrocardiogram and arterio-venous difference were recorded. Nitroglycerin was shown to annul the unfavourable effects of vasopressin without altering its efficacy upon portal pressure.

Analysis of mobile-oriented energy consumption for heterogeneous connections in hybrid wireless networks

2012

While more and more mobile devices are equipped with both cellular and WLAN interfaces for internet access, the energy consumption aspect of these connections has not been studied in depth in the literature. In this paper, a hybrid network with three alternative wireless connections, namely, a cellular component, a combined component with a mixed ad hoc and cellular link, or an infrastructure-based WLAN component, is investigated. A distance-based analysis on the energy consumption of a mobile station has been performed for each alternative wireless connection, and corresponding numerical results have been obtained. The results suggest that, to increase link throughput while maintaining min…

BEGIN: Big Data Enabled Energy-Efficient Vehicular Edge Computing

2018

Vehicular edge computing is essential to support future emerging multimedia-rich and delay-sensitive applications in vehicular networks. However, the massive deployment of edge computing infrastructures induces new problems including energy consumption and carbon pollution. This motivates us to develop BEGIN (Big data enabled EnerGy-efficient vehIcular edge computiNg), a programmable, scalable, and flexible framework for integrating big data analytics with vehicular edge computing. In this article, we first present a comprehensive literature review. Then the overall design principle of BEGIN is described with an emphasis on computing domain and data domain convergence. In the next section, …
