Copper complexes with sulfonamides: crystal structure and interaction with pUC18 plasmid and hydrogen peroxide
2003
N-Quinolin-8-yl-benzenesulfonamide (Hqbsa) and N-quinolin-8-yl-naftalenesulfonamide (Hqnsa) have been synthetized and physicochemically characterized, and used as ligands to coordinate copper complexes with ML2 stoichiometry. The structure of the compounds [Cu(qbsa)2]·DMF and [Cu(qnsa)2] has been determined by X-ray diffraction and both of them crystallize in the orthorhombic system. IR and ESR spectra of the complexes are discussed. The cleavage of pUCI8 by the copper complexes do not behave as chemical nucleases in the range of concentrations assayed.
One-dimensional oxalato-bridged copper(II) complexes with 3-hydroxypyridine and 2-amino-4-methylpyridine
2001
Two new one-dimensional oxalato-bridged copper(II) compounds of formula [Cu(ox)L2]n (1) and {[Cu2(ox)2L%3]·L%}n (2) [ox oxalate dianion, L3-hydroxypyridine (pyOH) and L% 2-amino-4-methylpyridine (ampy)] have been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, variable-temperature magnetic measurements and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of 1 comprises chains of copper atoms in which cis-[Cu(pyOH)2] 2 units are sequentially bridged by asymmetric bis-bidentate oxalato ligands with an intrachain copper‐copper separation of 5.548(1) A, . Each copper atom is six-coordinated: four oxygen atoms belonging to two bridging oxalato ligands and two nitrogen atoms from two …
Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of the first structurally characterized 1,2-dithiocroconato-containing Cu(II) complex, [Cu(bpca)…
1996
Abstract The first crystal and molecular structure of a transition metal complex containing 1,2-dithiocroconate (1,2-dtcr, dianion of 1,2-dimercaptocylopent-1-ene-3,4,5-trione), [Cu(bpca)(H2O)]2[Cu(1,2-dtcr)2]·2H2O (where bpca is the bis(2-pyrdidylcarbonyl)amide anion), has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The compound crystallizesin the monoclinic syste, space group P21/c, with a = 11.661(3), b = 20.255(6), c = 8.265(3) A , s = 107.26(2)° and Z = 2. The structure is formally built of [Cu(1,2-dtcr)2]2− and [Cu(bpca)(H2O)]+ ions and water of hydration. The copper atom of the anion is situated at a crystallographic inversion centre, bonded to four sulfur atoms in a…

Single-crystal EPR study of the bimetallic ferrimagnetic chain MnCu(EDTA)·6H2O
1993
Abstract A single-crystal EPR study of the bimetallic chain compound MnCu(EDTA)·6H2O is reported. The angular dependence of the linewidth is discussed in relation to the magnetic dipole-dipole interaction, manganese zerofield splitting (ZFS) and copper hyperfine coupling. The calculation of the second moments indicates that ZFS is comparable to the dipolar contribution. The EPR data support the one-dimensional character of the compound.
Improving the photocatalytic H2 evolution activity of Keggin polyoxometalates anchoring copper-azole complexes
2021
Eliminating the use of precious metals as cocatalysts and using visible light are two important aspects in the field of photocatalytic H2 evolution with polyoxometalates (POMs) as photosensitizers. Here we present two new POM-based materials: [CuII5(2-ptz)6(H2O)4(GeW12O40)]·4H2O (1) and [CuI2(ppz)4][H2GeW12O40]·8H2O (2) (2-ptz = 5-(2-pyridyl) tetrazole, ppz = 3-(pyrid-4-yl) pyrazole) synthesized with the Keggin type [GeW12O40]4− (GeW12) polyanion and copper-azole complexes. The optimum photocatalytic H2 evolution rate of compound 1 without a noble metal cocatalyst is 3813 μmol g−1 h−1, which is 7.6 times higher than that of compound 2 and more than 27 times higher than that of bare GeW12 po…
Impaired cellular cholesterol efflux by oxysterol-enriched high density lipoproteins.
1997
One of the proposed antiatherogenicity role of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) is believed to stimulate removal of cholesterol from the peripheral cells back to the liver for excretion. We have investigated the effects of oxidation-related modifications of HDL on their ability to stimulate cholesterol efflux from cultured cells. Human HDL (HDL3, 1.13 < d < 1.21 g/ml) have been modified either by malondialdehyde or by copper-mediated oxidation (Ox-HDL3). Compared with native HDL3, the modified HDL3 resulted in a significantly reduced efflux of labeled cholesterol from preloaded macrophages (P388D1 cell line). Analysis of lipid composition of Ox-HDL3 by gas chromatography revealed the presenc…
A new ionic liquid dimethyldinonylammonium bromide as a flow modifier for the simultaneous determination of eight carboxylates by capillary electroph…
2005
Two new methods of capillary zone electrophoresis based on aqueous phosphate running buffers with UV spectrophotometric detection were developed and optimized for the determination of eight carboxylates as copper complexes. Metalcomplexes are negatively charged, so measurements were made as anion analyses with flow reversal in the capillary. Two flow modifiers were used: a common tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and a new ionic liquid dimethyldinonylammonium bromide (DMDNAB). The methods were compared to each other. Better separation was achieved with DMDNAB as the flow modifier. Method development was done using a fused silica capillary (61 cm x 50 microm i.d.). Optimization was …
Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria for 1-propanol+water+copper(II) chloride at 100kPa
2005
Abstract Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria for the ternary system 1-propanol + water + copper(II) chloride has been measured at 100 kPa using a recirculating still. The addition of copper(II) chloride to the solvent mixture produced a salting-out effect of the alcohol, but the azeotrope did not tend to be eliminated when the salt content increased. The experimental data sets were fitted with the electrolyte NRTL model and the parameters of Mock's model were estimated. This model has proved to be suitable to represent experimental data in the entire range of compositions. The effect of copper(II) chloride on the vapor–liquid equilibrium of the 1-propanol + water system has been compared with …
