Isotopic Enriched and Natural SiC Junction Barrier Schottky Diodes Under Heavy Ion Irradiation

2022

The radiation tolerance of isotopic enriched and natural silicon carbide junction barrier Schottky diodes are compared under heavy ion irradiation. Both types of devices experience leakage current degradation as well as single-event burnout events. The results were comparable, although the data may indicate a marginally lower thresholds for the isotopic enriched devices at lower linear energy transfer (LET). Slightly higher reverse bias threshold values for leakage current degradation were also observed compared to previously published work.

Smooth crack-free targets for nuclear applications produced by molecular plating

2013

The production process of smooth and crack-free targets by means of constant current electrolysis in organic media, commonly known as molecular plating, was optimized. Using a Nd salt, i.e., [Nd(NO3)(3)center dot 6H(2)O], as model electrolyte several constant current density electrolysis experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of different parameters, namely the plating solvent (isopropanol and isobutanol mixed together, pyridine, and N,N-dimethylformamide), the electrolyte concentration (0.11, 0.22, 0.44 mM), the applied current density (0.17, 0.3, 0.7, and 1.3 mA/cm(2)), and the surface roughness of the deposition substrates (12 and 24 nm). Different environments (air and …

Dispersive approach to the nuclear compton amplitude and exchange effects

1981

We discuss the limitation of the standard approach to exchange current effects from photonuclear sum rules. We propose to look for an energy-independent contribution to the real part of the forward Compton-scattering amplitude below pion threshold. Experimental data on photonuclear cross-sections are used to calculate the real part of the amplitude, by means of an once-subtracted dispersion relation. The analysis is made for2H,7Li and9Be at energies varying between 50 and 150 MeV. A remarkably stable value ofK=0.60 is extracted for deuterium. For 1p shell nuclei, the main uncertainty is due to the lack of data above 300 MeV.

Measurement of the Ratio of theνμCharged-Current Single-Pion Production to Quasielastic Scattering with a 0.8 GeV Neutrino Beam on Mineral Oil

2009

Charged current single pion production (CC{pi}{sup +}) and charged current quasi-elastic scattering (CCQE) are the most abundant interaction types for neutrinos at energies around 1 GeV, a region of great interest to oscillation experiments. The cross-sections for these processes, however, are not well understood in this energy range. This dissertation presents a measurement of the ratio of CC{pi}{sup +} to CCQE cross-sections for muon neutrinos on mineral oil (CH{sub 2}) in the MiniBooNE experiment. The measurement is presented here both with and without corrections for hadronic re-interactions in the target nucleus and is given as a function of neutrino energy in the range 0.4 GeV < E{sub…

Limit on νe→ντ oscillations from the NOMAD experiment

2000

Abstract In the context of a two-flavour approximation we reinterpret the published NOMAD limit on ν μ → ν τ oscillations in terms of ν e → ν τ oscillations. At 90% C.L. we obtain sin 2 2θ eτ 5.2×10 −2 for large Δm 2 , while for sin 2 2 θ eτ =1 the confidence region includes Δm 2 2 / c 4 .

Nuclear effects in neutrino production of Δ at intermediate energies

1998

Abstract The neutrino production of Δ in 16 O has been studied at intermediate energies relevant to atmospheric neutrino experiments. The Δ production cross sections with electrons or muons in the final state is found to be reduced due to nuclear effects. This reduction is even larger for the accompanying one pion production cross sections. The ratio of electron to muon production cross sections, however, does not show any significant dependence on nuclear medium effects.

A more sensitive search for νμ→ντ oscillations in NOMAD

1999

With additional data and improved algorithms, we have enhanced the sensitivity of our appearance search for $\numunutau$ oscillations in the NOMAD detector in the CERN-SPS wide-band neutrino beam. The search uses kinematic criteria to identify $\nutau$ charged current interactions followed by decay of the $\tau^-$ to one of several decay modes. Our ``blind'' analyses of deep-inelastic scattering data taken in 1996 and 1997, combined with consistent reanalyses of previously reported 1995 data, yield no oscillation signal. For the two-family oscillation scenario, we present the contour outlining a 90\% C.L. confidence region in the $\sin^22\theta_{\mu \tau} - \Delta m^2$ plane. At large $\Del…

The relativistic spin-orbit current in deuteron photodisintegration below and above ?-threshold

1988

It is shown that the spin-orbit current which leads to an improved description ofd(γ,p)n below π-threshold is essentially a two-body exchange effect. This is demonstrated by separation of its one-body contribution. Furthermore, above π-threshold its inclusion leads to an improved agreement with experiment, in particular for the differential cross section in the Δ-excitation region.

Inclusive quasielastic charged-current neutrino-nucleus reactions

2004

The Quasi-Elastic (QE) contribution of the nuclear inclusive electron scattering model developed in Nucl. Phys. A627 (1997) 543 is extended to the study of electroweak Charged Current (CC) induced nuclear reactions, at intermediate energies of interest for future neutrino oscillation experiments. The model accounts for, among other nuclear effects, long range nuclear (RPA) correlations, Final State Interaction (FSI) and Coulomb corrections. Predictions for the inclusive muon capture in $^{12}$C and the reaction $^{12}$C $(\nu_\mu,\mu^-)X$ near threshold are also given. RPA correlations are shown to play a crucial role and their inclusion leads to one of the best existing simultaneous descri…

Inclusive Nucleon Emission Induced by Quasi--Elastic Neutrino--Nucleus Interactions

2005

We study the quasi--elastic contribution to the inclusive $(\nu_l,\nu_l N)$, $(\nu_l,l^- N)$, $({\bar \nu}_l,{\bar \nu}_l N)$ and $({\bar \nu}_l,l^+ N)$ reactions in nuclei using a Monte Carlo simulation method to account for the rescattering of the outgoing nucleon. As input, we take the reaction probability from the microscopical many body framework developed in Phys. Rev. {\bf C70} (2004) 055503 for charged-current induced reactions, while for neutral currents we use results from a natural extension of the model described in that reference. The nucleon emission process studied here is a clear signal for neutral--current neutrino driven reactions, that can be used in the analysis of futur…
