High Current Proton and Deuteron Beams for Accelerators and Neutron Generators

This paper presents the latest results of high current proton and deuteron beam production at SMIS 37 facility at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP RAS). In this experimental setup the plasma is created and the electrons are heated by 37.5 GHz gyrotron radiation with power up to 100 kW in a simple mirror trap fulfilling the ECR condition. High microwave power and frequency allow sustaining higher density hydrogen plasma (ne up to 2·1013 cm-3) in comparison to conventional ECRIS’s or microwave sources. Oligophenyls with Multiple Disulfide Bridges as Higher Homologues of Dibenzo[c,e][1,2]dithiin: Synthesis and Application in Lithium-Ion Batteries.

Abstract Higher homologues of dibenzo[c,e][1,2]dithiin were synthesized from oligophenyls bearing multiple methylthio groups. Single‐crystal X‐ray analyses revealed their nonplanar structures and helical enantiomers of higher meta‐congener 6. Such dibenzo[1,2]dithiin homologues are demonstrated to be applicable to lithium‐ion batteries as cathode, displaying a high capacity of 118 mAh g−1 at a current density of 50 mA g−1.
Study of Σ(1385) and Ξ(1321) hyperon and antihyperon production in deep inelastic muon scattering

Large samples of \Lambda, \Sigma(1385) and \Xi(1321) hyperons produced in deep-inelastic muon scattering off a ^6LiD target were collected with the COMPASS experimental setup at CERN. The relative yields of \Sigma(1385)^+, \Sigma(1385)^-, \bar{\Sigma}(1385)^-, \bar{\Sigma}(1385)^+, \Xi(1321)^-, and \bar{\Xi}(1321)^+ hyperons decaying into \Lambda(\bar{\Lambda})\pi were measured. The heavy hyperon to \Lambda and heavy antihyperon to \bar{\Lambda} yield ratios were found to be in the range 3.8% to 5.6% with a relative uncertainty of about 10%. They were used to tune the parameters relevant for strange particle production of the LEPTO Monte Carlo generator.

Core flooding experiments to determine multiphase flow in properties of rock such as relative permeability can show significant fluctuations in terms of pressure, saturation, and electrical conductivity. That is typically not considered in the Darcy scale interpretation but treated as noise. However, in recent years, flow regimes that exhibit spatio-temporal variations in pore scale occupancy related to fluid phase pressure changes have been identified. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of the Veloflex infrared dynamic angle-meter (Veloflex-IDA) and the intra- and inter-rater reliability when measuring the ranges of motion (ROMs) of the upper limb joints. Thirty-five healthy and 20 symptomatic participants were evaluated. Twelve upper limb movements were measured in two sessions with the Veloflex-IDA, which is a device composed of a camera that tracks the trajectory of retro-reflective markers. A procedure based on the high-field mechanism of the growth of anodic oxides was developed in order to evaluate the morphological features of porous layers. Since the thickness of the barrier film, separating the porous layer from the metal, does not change during the steady-state growth of an anodic porous layer, the rate of displacement of the metal-oxide interface to the metal direction must be equal to the rate of displacement of the pore base to the oxide direction. [EN] A technique for the accurate computation of the electromagnetic fields radiated by a charged particle moving within a parallel-plate waveguide is presented. Based on a transformation of the time-varying current density of the particle into a time-harmonic current density, this technique allows the evaluation of the radiated electromagnetic fields both in the frequency and time domains, as well as in the near- and far-field regions. For this purpose, several accelerated versions of the parallel-plate Green's function in the frequency domain have been considered.
