Interaction Between Amines and N-Haloimides: a New Motif for Unprecedentedly Short Br...N and I...N Halogen Bonds
2011
The complexes of N-bromosuccinimide or N-iodosuccinimide with a halogen bond acceptor, either 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO), hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) or 1,3,5-triazine (TRZ), led to an unprecedentedly strong (CO)2N–X⋯N halogen bond synthon (X = Br or I) determined from crystal structures of [DABCO]·[NBS]22, [HMTA]·[NBS]22, [TRZ]·[NIS]22 and [HMTA]·[NIS]44. The Br⋯N distances with DABCO and with HMTA donors were 2.347 A and 2.414 A being remarkably shorter (31% and 29%) than the sum of the VDW radii of nitrogen and bromide atoms, respectively. The corresponding I⋯N distances with HMTA and TRZ were 2.549 A and 2.596 A (27.8% and 26.4% less than the sum of the VDW radii of N and I…
NI halogen bonding supported stabilization of a discrete pseudo-linear [I12]2− polyiodide
2015
Two different dicationic N-donors, based on the DABCO diamine, have been studied as templates for polyiodides. The results present a new strategy for polyiodide stabilization, which involves both N⋯I halogen bonding and cation–anion interactions. This is highlighted by the self-assembly of an unprecedented discrete pseudo-linear dodecaiodide species.
Estimating Patient Empowerment and Nurses' Use of Digital Strategies: eSurvey Study.
2021
Patient empowerment is seen as the capability to understand health information and make decisions based on it. It is a competence that can improve self-care, adherence and overall health. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for information and has also reduced the number of visits to health centers. Nurses have had to adapt in order to continue offering quality care in different environments such as the digital world, but this entails assessing the level of their patients’ empowerment and adapting material and educational messages to new realities. The aim of this study is, on the one hand, to assess nurses’ use of digital resources to provide reinforcing information to their patie…
Impact of Depression on Patients With Hemophilia: A Retrospective Case-Control Research
2022
BackgroundHemophilia is an inherited recessive hemorrhagic disorder of the X-linked type, suffered by the male sex. Adults with hemophilia are coping with numerous diagnostics, associated comorbidities, pain, and difficult gait by arthropathy in ankles and feet. Physical pains contribute to depression in patients with hemophilia.PurposeThe study aimed to assess the impact of depression in adult patient with hemophilia and to compare it with healthy matched-paired controls. Methods: The sample consisted of 100 participants (median age 42.50 ± 30). Patients with hemophilia were recruited from Spanish Hemophiliac Associations (n = 50) and healthy subjects (n = 50) from a Clinic Podiatry Practi…
Heat-Resistant Fully Bio-Based Nanocomposite Blends Based on Poly(lactic acid)
2013
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is melt mixed with polyamide 11 (PA11) to obtain a heat-resistant fully bio-based blend with PLA as the dominant component. The goal is achieved by adding small amounts of organoclay (OMMT), which is used to manipulate the blend microstructure. The selective positioning of the OMMT inside the PA11 and at the PLA/PA11 interface turns the blend morphology from drop/matrix into co-continuous at high PLA content (70 wt%). The OMMT-rich PA11 framework that interpenetrates the major PLA phase effectively contributes to bear stresses, and the nanocomposite blend keeps its structural integrity up to ≈160 °C, i.e., about 100 °C above the PLA glass transition.
Characterization of Fusion Lines Obtained with Laser Welding on Ductile Iron Plates
2016
This paper studies the ductile iron (DI) weldability using laser welding. For performing an Yb:YAG continuous laser was used, with a maximum power of 6 kW. The parametrical window power (P) - welding speed (S) was explored by carrying out the fusion lines on ductile iron plates without preheating, to determinate areas of weldability (complete penetration, correct geometry) to allow further characterization. The criteria for selection of focus areas were the geometry of the fusion lines and the absence of the welding defects. The unsatisfactory domains were characterized by: collapse of the melted metal, incomplete penetration, low fusion lines quality (geometry, compactness). In present stu…

2014
ANOTĀCIJA Ustups, 2013. Plekstes (Platichthys flesus L.) agrīno attīstības stadiju bioloģiskais raksturojums Baltijas jūras centrālajā daļā. Plekstu ihtioplanktona daudzumu Baltijas jūras centrālajā daļā nosaka nārsta bara lielums un hidroloģiskie apstākļi. Plekstu mazuļu skaitu piekrastes zonā būtiski ietekmē ūdens temperatūra, mēnesis un vēja virziens. Strauja šāgadeņu augšana novērojama līdz septembrim, bet viengadniekiem no pavasara līdz novembrim. Irbes šauruma piekraste ir labvēlīga dzīvotne plekstu mazuļiem, ko nosaka smilšainās seklūdens zonas, daudzveidīgie barošanās objekti un ģeogrāfiskais novietojums attiecībā pret nārsta vietu. Plekstes mazuļu plašais barības spektrs samazina b…
Advanced Stochastic Petri Net Modeling with the Mercury Scripting Language
2017
Formal models are widely used in performance and dependability studies of computational systems. Graphical modeling tools allow users to compose such models with ease, but they complicate the creation of models with a dynamic/complex structure, the hierarchical arrangement of different models, and the automatic execution of models with different parameter configurations. To overcome this problem, we created a scripting language for the Mercury tool that supports the combination of different modeling approaches (e.g., Stochastic Petri Nets and Reliability Block Diagrams) in a single project. In this paper, we focus on the extensions developed to improve the capabilities of Generalized Stocha…
