A collaboratively-derived research agenda for e-assessment in undergraduate mathematics
2022
AbstractThis paper describes the collaborative development of an agenda for research on e-assessment in undergraduate mathematics. We built on an established approach to develop the agenda from the contributions of 22 mathematics education researchers, university teachers and learning technologists interested in this topic. The resulting set of 55 research questions are grouped into 5 broad themes: errors and feedback, student interactions with e-assessment, design and implementation choices, affordances offered by e-assessment tools, and mathematical skills. This agenda gives a framework for a programme of research aligned with practical concerns that will contribute to both theoretical an…
The Relapsing Polychondritis Disease Activity Index: Development of a disease activity score for relapsing polychondritis.
2012
Abstract Objective The rarity of relapsing polychondritis (RP) has hindered the development of standardized tools for clinical assessment. Here, we describe the development of a preliminary score for disease assessing activity in RP, the Relapsing Polychondritis Disease Activity Index (RPDAI). Methods Twenty-seven RP experts participated in an international collaboration. Selection and definition of items for disease activity were established by consensus during a 4-round internet-based Delphi survey. Twenty-six experts assessed the Physician's Global Assessment (PGA) of disease activity on 43 test cases on a 0–100 scale, yielding a total of 1118 PGA ratings. The weight of each item was est…

General Aspects of Thoracic Anesthesia
2020
Thoracic anesthesia, a fascinating subspecialty, provides perioperative medicine for a spectrum of dynamically evolving surgical procedures ranging from classical thoracotomies to minimally invasive and ultra-minimally invasive video or robotically assisted procedures. Its core mission is to provide optimal surgical conditions by deflating the operative lung while providing adequate oxygenation and avoiding injury to the ventilated lung. Thoracic anesthesia also provides preoperative care to achieve best possible health status before surgery and improves postoperative recovery by providing means of pain therapy and enhanced recovery following some of the most painful procedures in patients …
A questionnaire to assess parental perception of barriers towards active commuting to school (PABACS): Reliability and validity
2019
Abstract Introduction Parental barriers are a key factor to determine physical activity behaviors, such as active commuting to school in young people. The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of a questionnaire which addresses parental barriers towards active commuting to school. Methods This paper describes the development, following the Delphi method, and the validation of a Likert-scale questionnaire of 23 items (Parental Perception of Barriers towards Active Commuting to School (PABACS)) designed to determine the main parental barriers. These barriers are categorized into 3 scales (general, walking, and cycling barriers) and the overall questionnaire. A total o…
The future of 'serious games' in accounting education: A Delphi study
2019
Abstract Previous literature on Serious Games (SGs) has focused on the possible impacts of these educational tools on learning effectiveness. However, the empirical evidence is still scarce, and these learning-based games are rarely used in general undergraduate courses and even less so in accounting courses compared with other business areas. Using an existing digital game and a sample of accounting lecturers, this paper uses the Delphi methodology to examine accounting academicś perceptions of the usefulness and the potential barriers to implementing SGs in the classroom. Our results show that the knowledge and funding of technology is no longer an issue. However, incentives to motivate a…
Are Cities Aware Enough? A Framework for Developing City Awareness to Climate Change
2020
Cities are growing and becoming more complex, and as they continue to do so, their capacity to deal with foreseen and unforeseen challenges derived from climate change has to adapt accordingly. In the last decade, an effort has been made to build city resilience and improve cities' capacity to respond to, recover from and adapt to climate change. However, certain city stakeholders' lack of proactive behavior has resulted in less effective city resilience-building strategies. In this sense, the importance of developing stakeholders&rsquo
Problems in the Interplay of IS Development and IT Operations: An Alignment Analysis
2013
This chapter addresses the interplay of IS development and IT operations in system development projects, as seen from the perspective of IT operations. The underlying perspective is that a well-performed interplay of the two domains is essential, both for the successful development of a new information system, as well as for its subsequent operation. In this chapter, we use alignment theory to analyse data from a Delphi study in order to investigate the interplay of the two areas. The chapter concludes that the two areas are often unsatisfactorily aligned and that improving their interplay must be a priority for IS development and IT operations alike.
A guide to indicators for the evaluation of specialist autism centres, based on the quality-of-life model
2017
Objective: The evaluation of individual and organizational quality of life through the Guide to Quality-of-Life Indicators and its promotion in English-speaking areas. This guide was initially designed for people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder in specialist autism centers in Spanish and Italian-speaking areas where its effectiveness has been validated. Method: The Delphi technique is applied to the design of a qualitative investigation, with expert validation for the adaptation to English-speaking areas. Results: The results have facilitated the adaptation and validation of the tool, which has 68 indicators grouped into six areas, for its application in both the planning and the evalu…
