Dammarane triterpenes of Salvia hierosolymitana

1990

Abstract Salvilymitone and salvilymitol, two new triterpenoids isolated from Salvia hierosolymitana , have been shown to be 7β,25-dihydroxy-(20 S ,24 R )-epoxydammaran-3-one and (20 S ,24 R )-epoxydammaran-3β,7α,25-triol, respectively. The absolute stereochemistry of these triterpenoids has been established by an X-ray diffraction analysis of a 25,26,27-trinor derivative obtained by degradation of both compounds. In addition, four previously known triterpenoids were isolated from the same source.

Synthetic studies on neoclerodane diterpenes from Salvia splendens: oxidative modifications of ring A.

2011

Salvinorin A (1), a neoclerodane diterpene from the hallucinogenic mint Salvia divinorum, is the only known naturally occurring non-nitrogenous and specific κ-opioid agonist. Some oxidative modifications of the A ring in the congeners of 1 isolated from Salvia splendens salviarin, splenolide B, splendidin and in the non-natural 8-epi-salviarin gave new derivatives, some of which were tested as agonists at opioid receptors. However, none of these compounds were active. The presence of the C-18, C-19 lactone could be at the origin of the observed lack of binding affinity.

ChemInform Abstract: Pyrrolo[3,4-e][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine and Pyrrolo[3,4-d][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine. New Tricyclic Ring Systems of…

2001

Derivatives of the new ring system pyrrolo[3,4-e][1,2,3] triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine 6 were prepared in high yields in one step by reaction of 3-azidopyrrole 3 and substituted acetonitriles. Compound 6b rearranged, upon heating in dimethyl sulfoxide in the presence of water, to pyrrolo[3,4-d][1,2,3]triazolo-[1,5-a]pyrimidine 7.

ChemInform Abstract: C-C versus C-N Annulation Reactions of 2-Alkyl-2-oxazolines and 2-Alkyl-2-thiazolines: A Simple Synthesis of Novel 3-Aminoindene…

2010

The effect of various aromatic and aliphatic dielectrophiles on the lithium azaenolates of 2-alkyl-2-oxazolines and 2-alkyl-2-thiazolines has been examined. This effect varies greatly, depending on the nature of the dielectrophile used. 3-Aminoindene (3) and 3-alkylidenephthalimidine (4−5) derivatives were formed as a result of the reactions with dielectrophiles derived from ortho-substituted benzonitriles. Similarly, 2-alkylidenepyrrolidine (7) and 2-alkylidenepiperidine (8) derivatives were obtained in high yields from 2-alkyl-2-oxazolines or 2-alkyl-2-thiazolines and aliphatic dielectrophiles derived from ω-haloalkyldiphenylacetonitrile. C−C versus C−N annulation reactions are discussed.

Mukaiyama-type, eight-membered ring closure: Access to a tricyclic system related to taxanes

1998

Abstract Addition of Me2CuLi, with in situ trapping by TMSCl, to Hagemann's ester derivative 13, furnished silyl enol ether 14. Mukaiyama-type cyclization of the latter compound gave the tricyclic derivative 15, structurally related to the taxane core.

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of a Fullerene Derivative of Benzo(18)crown-6 by Diels-Alder Reaction: Complexation Ability, Amphiphilic Properties, a…

2010

A fullerene derivative 1 of benzo[18]crown-6 was obtained by Diels-Alder addition of fullerene[60](C60) to the ortho-quinodimethane prepared in situ from 4,5-bis(bromomethyl)benzo[18]crown-6 (3) with Bu4NI in toluene. Extraction experiments show that the complexation of K+ ions strongly increases the solubility of 1 in protic solvents like MeOH. Using Langmuir-Blodgett techniques, monolayers of the highly amphiphilic fullerene-derived crown ether 1 and its K+ ion complex were prepared. An X-ray crystal structure was obtained from a benzene clathrate of comparison compound 2, synthesized by Diels-Alder reaction of C60 with the ortho-quinodimethane derived from 1,2-bis(bromomethyl)-4,5-dimeth…

Poly(2-vinylpyridine)-Based Polymers as an Efficient Affinity Material for the Detection of Airborne Phenol

2015

Phenol is an omnipresent compound in various situations. Its acute toxicity makes alternative tracing methods desirable. Highly potent affinity materials based on polyvinyl pyridine allow an efficient tracing of this particular airborne compound. Their performance over, for example, benzene is tremendously superior. In combination with a simple cyclodextrin derivative an array allows differentiation among such aromatic competitors. Owing to the high affinity of these polymers for phenol, quartz microbalance-based tracing is able to detect phenol below the parts per million range. This was previously not possible with other affinity materials.

Phthalocyanine-based hybrid materials for chemosensing

2013

In the present review, we show how the chemical variability of phthalocyanines allowed to synthesize a broad range of hybrid materials. The combination of phthalocyanines or related derivatives with polymers or carbonaceous materials led to efficient chemical sensors. It is shown how the incorporation of macrocyclic molecules in hybrid materials highly modifies the structural and morphological characteristics of the materials. Rugosity, specific surface and porosity being key parameters in the analyte-sensing material interactions, these modifications highly improve the performance of chemical sensors. This is the reason why they are particularly promising materials for the development of …
