Structural, electronic and energetic effects in heterocyclic fluorene derivatives fused with a fulvene unit
2019
Abstract A set of 36 heterocyclic (B, N and O) fluorene (C) derivatives fused in nine ways with fulvene ring have been analyzed by means of different local aromaticity criteria. Molecular geometry of analyzed compounds were optimized at B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) level of theory. The evaluation of the local aromaticity has been carried out through the use of the geometry-based harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity (HOMA) and the magnetism-based zz‐component of the nucleus independent chemical shifts calculated 1 A above the ring center (NICS1zz) indices as well as one aromaticity index derived from the Quantum Theory Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM), i.e. the para-delocalization index (PDI). A green and efficient method for the synthesis of homodimeric (β-dicarbonyl) arylmethanes and dihydropyridine from dimedone in water
2018
A direct method has been developed for the synthesis of the dihydropyridine ring system by means of Michael reaction. The reaction of dimedone with 1 .0 equiv. of amines in water provides intermediate product, which allowed dihydropyridine derivatives by intramolecular cyclization in various yields. Of particular interest is the use of the water as solvent of reaction and in absence of catalyst. Also these operating conditions protect the environment and economic points of view. Keywords: aqueous synthesis; bioactivity; dihydropyridine; dimedone; green method; selective conditions
Facile synthesis of annulated heterocyclic benzo[kl]acridine derivatives via one-pot N–H/C–H coupling
2016
An efficient N–H/C–H one-pot coupling method for the preparation of benzo[kl]acridines has been developed based on palladium-catalyzed domino synthesis. Using commercially available starting materials such as dihalonaphthalenes and diphenylamines, and combining amination with catalysts for C–H activation, up to 95% overall yield can be achieved.
Mild, Fast, and Easy To Conduct MoCl5-Mediated Dehydrogenative Coupling Reactions in Flow
2018
A convenient and straightforward approach to performing oxidative coupling reactions in flow is presented. A collection of electron-rich benzene derivatives was subjected to this protocol, and the distinct utility of molybdenum pentachloride (MoCl5) is established. Using this unexplored protocol, biphenyls could be obtained in 21–91% isolated yield. This simple protocol opens a new chapter in reagent-mediated dehydrogenative coupling reactions, and yields are compared to classical approaches.
Synthesis and solid state structure for a series of poly(1-pyrrolylmethyl)benzene derivatives. Control of the interplaying π–π and C–H⋯π interactions?
2006
The syntheses of new hexa- and 1,2,4,5-tetra-1-pyrrolylmethyl-benzene (1 and 2, respectively) compounds and their crystal structures, along with those for the related disubstituted o-, m- and p-di-1-pyrrolylmethyl-benzene (3–5) derivatives are reported. The arrangements of molecules in the 1-D structure for 2–5 are controlled by the interplay of two different weak interactions: π–π and C–H⋯π (Ph) interactions. The absence of such interactions in the packing of 1 seems to be related to the arrangement of the pyrrolylmethyl arms with respect to the benzene core, which prevents the π cloud of the aromatic ring to be part of any intermolecular interaction. In addition, C–H⋯π (pyrrolyl) interact…
Influence of shear rate and concentration ratio on viscous synergism. Application to xanthan—Iocust bean gum— NaCMC mixtures Influencia de la velocid…
2000
A method is described that allows the development of an empirical approach to quantify synergistic interactions and their variations with shear rate. The approach is based on the definition of a viscous synergism index, Iv. The method is applied to xanthan-locust bean gum gels, and an equation is developed for relating the synergism index to shear rate, γ, and the locust bean gum/xanthan gum concentration ratio, z. The value of at which that function has a maximum, IMV, is calculated. This value of z provided an estimation of the proportion of gums at which maximum synergism occurs. A decreasing exponential dependence of these IMV on γ is shown. The influence of the addition of a fixed pro…
Seed oils as additives: penetration of triolein, methyloleate and diclofop-methyl in maize leaves
1992
Summary: Resume: Zusammenfassung Methyl ester derivatives of seed oils have a greater effect on graminicide efficacy than the parent oils. To explain this difference, we investigated the penetration of the radiolabelled oils, triolein (TRI) and methyl oleate (MEO), in maize leaves, and their influence on diclofop-methyl penetration. Over a period of 3 h 30% of applied TRI penetrated maize leaves, but no further penetration was observed. In contrast, MEO entry proceeded regularly to 72% over a period of 27 h. The amount of oil found in epicuticular wax (chloroform wash) was generally less than 4% of the recovered label, and was even lower (<1%) in ‘glossy 1’ hybrids which have no crystalline…
Rays hamper intrusive growth of vessel elements
2021
Key message In some circumstances vessel elements, both broad and narrow, enlarge only symplastically in tangential direction. Rays play a special role in regulating intrusive enlargement of vessel elements. Abstract The aim of this study was to analyse relations occurring between vessel elements and surrounding cells, i.e. susceptibility to separation of walls of cells occurring in the vicinity of vessel elements, with regard to their type—cells of the axial/radial system. On the basis of separation/lack of separation of cell walls, and thus change in cell contacts/lack of change in cell contacts, we have estimated the contribution of particular types of growth—intrusive and symplastic—in …
A new C12 alcohol identified as a sex pheromone and a trail-following pheromone in termites: the diene (Z,Z)-dodeca-3,6-dien-1-ol
2003
0028-1042 (Print) Journal Article; The diunsaturated C12 alcohol (Z,Z)-dodeca-3,6-dien-1-ol (dodecadienol) has been characterized by GC-MS and FTIR as a novel releaser pheromone in termites. This alcohol identified in Ancistrotermes pakistanicus (Termitidae, Macrotermitinae) possesses a double pheromonal function which again illustrates the chemical parsimony of termites compared with other social insects. In workers, dodecadienol elicits trail-following at a very low concentration (activity threshold at 0.1 pg/cm of trail); in male alates it induces trail-following at a low concentration (1-10 pg/cm) and sexual attraction at a higher concentration (about 1 ng). Traces of the monounsaturate…
Direct exposure to solar radiation causes radial growth eccentricity at the beginning of the growing season in Robinia pseudoacacia
2020
Abstract Our study investigated the effect of stem temperature increase on xylem formation in Robinia pseudoacacia tree-trunks, caused by direct exposure to solar radiation. It is important to determine factors which may improve the concentricity of deposited wood tissue and intensify xylogenesis because a strong irregularity of wood tissue deposited in the radial direction in mature trees of R. pseudoacacia reduces the commercial value of the wood. Samples of vascular cambium along with adjacent tissues were collected from the southern (illuminated) and northern (shaded) side of tree-trunks growing in the inner and peripheral (thus exposed to direct sunlight) zones of the research plot. Sa…
