A Meta-Conceptual Modeling Approach for Change Modeling in Applied Ontology
2016
International audience; Formal ontologies are explicitly representation of domain knowledge. Ontology change management should ensure maintaining its consistency, so that its users can continue to cooperate and understand each other. This paper presents a meta-conceptual modeling approach for change modeling in the domain of applied ontology. This modeling approach makes use a mathematical structure to model ontologies and its changes in order to make possible the qualification of changes regarding its consistency. Actually, the paper focuses on the meta-conceptual modeling approach inspired by Guarino's formal ontology building process.
Introduction. The value of accessibility in the cultural and creative industries: Translation-driven settings
2020
This study focuses on the relationship between translation, accessibility and the cultural creative industries, as well as on the different varieties of genres included in these industries as cultures of accessibility. The accessibility of CCI has grown exponentially in different parts of the globe and has increasingly become part of projects of significant importance in contemporary societies that rely on informational, global, and networked systems of communication, i.e., developed countries. CCI exist within public-domain areas and are stimulated by the critical rethinking of the means which can be used to support cultural development. CCI are in fact driven by structures of the knowledg…

Explaining information technology users’ ways of mitigating technostress
2017
Technostress refers to the inability of an individual to deal with information technology (IT) in a healthy manner. Researchers, practitioners, and medical professionals have emphasized the omnipresence of technostress and its severe outcomes, including poor well-being and burnout. Despite the importance of the phenomenon, prior research has paid limited attention to how technostress can be mitigated. The few existing studies examine organizational mitigation mechanisms, but we could not find any studies that focus on individual IT users’ own ways of mitigating technostress outside of work. To address the research gap, we conducted a qualitative study to uncover users’ ways of mitigating te…
The Effect of Textual Producer-Generated Descriptions on Demand of Mobile Applications
2017
We analyze the impact of different app description characteristics on app demand on the basis of panel data for six months and 1081 distinct apps. We use several text mining techniques in order to operationalize the descriptions’ textual characteristics. The extracted variables are then used in an econometric investigation to examine their impact on apps’ downloads. Our results provide evidence that app descriptions have an effect on demand. Apps with upfront price should be described in a neutral tone. Apps without an upfront price but with in-app purchase option should be offered with rather short descriptions that are written in a formal and subjective style. peerReviewed
Differentiation of the Disease Caused by Aphanomyces cochlioides and Girth Scab on Sugar Beet Roots – a Review
2017
Severe symptoms of root rot on sugar beet have been observed in Poland and Germany since 2001. The symptom classification suggested girth scab as it was mistakenly classified on the basis of current classification, e.g. in LIZ. However, the cause of the disease was Aphanomyces cochlioides infection, not Streptomyces spp. According to these findings we cannot call the symptoms caused by A. cochlioides as ‘girth scab’. The typical scab (girth scab) symptoms can be promoted by A. cochlioides infections. In many cases, A. cochlioides developed at the beginning of the season, during the seedling stage. Its further development was due to rainfall and was not routinely recognised in disease-change…
An insect brain computational model inspired by Drosophila melanogaster: architecture description
2010
The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is an extremely interesting insect because it shows a wealth of complex behaviors, despite its small brain. Nowadays genetic techniques allow to knock out the function of defined parts or genes in the Drosophila brain. Together with specific mutants which show similar defects in those parts or genes, hypothesis about the functions of every single brain part can be drawn. Following these experiments, a computational model of the fly Drosophila has been designed with a view to its robotic implementation.
Facilitating IP deployment in a MARTE-based MDE methodology using IP-XACT: a XILINX EDK case study
2012
International audience; In this paper we present framework for the deployment of hardware IPs at high-levels of abstraction. It is based in a model- driven approach that aims at the automatic generation of Dynamic Partial Reconfiguration designs created in Xilinx Platform Studio (XPS). Contrary to previous approaches, we make use of the IP-XACT standard to facilitate the deployment of hardware IPs, their parameterization and subsequent integration. We propose an extension to the MARTE profile for IP deployment, and we introduce the necessary model transformations to obtain a high- level representation from an IP-XACT component library. These models are then used to create a platform in MART…
