RESUMENEn este artículo expongo la concepción de persona y sociedad en la filosofía de Charles Taylor. Para ello comienzo planteando la pregunta acerca de si es adecuado referirse a Taylor como “comunitarista” o, por el contrario, desde la hermenéutica es más preciso concebir una dimensión “dialógica” del sí mismo. This chapter discusses the editorial work of the female abolitionist Maria Weston Chapman and examines how Chapman envisions the gift book—a collection of poetry, short fiction, essays, and letters designed to be given away as present to a loved one—as a transatlantic space in which political thinkers, writers, and intellectuals could exchange their ideas. This article reports an analysis of conjoint therapy for psychological intimate partner violence, treated via a dialogical approach. The article reviews current controversies surrounding this treatment modality and its outcome. The dialogical approach is presented as an appropriate method for analyzing and understanding the issue of violence, but it is emphasized that the focus on communication does not involve a return to a systemic perspective on intimate partner violence.
