Three Dimensions of Dialogicity in Dialogic Argumentation

Three dimensions of dialogicity are emphasised in the literature: dialogic teacher talk, students' dialogic moves and organising for dialogic teaching. In this article, we examine these dimensions and the interplay between them in supporting dialogic argumentation in the context of whole-class discussions in mathematics and physics. Three seemingly different seventh-grade lessons were selected for further analysis from the database of a research project on dialogic argumentation. This article seeks to investigate the changing perception of the term “translation” in feminist TS thanks to a continuous dialogue with other fields such as, feminist literary criticism, post-structuralism, postcolonial studies and cultural studies that have borrowed and utilised the notion of translation. “Translation” has become a “travelling concept” for feminist scholars who have utilized it in a metaphorical way for a feminist critique of language and ideology. The aim of this study is to question meaning-making and how individuals’ narrate around it based on a 10 day intensive programmes. Inside out - Outside in: Building bridges with diversity in teacher education project was the focused of research, based on the collaboration of eight universities invested in teacher education that took place in the University of Jyväskylä. Thirty-two participants’ were involved sharing their experiences and stories based on two sets of data; 1) pre-questionnaire and, 2) a final reflective essay in response to the programme.
