Herbivorous grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) has been reported to exhibit low capacity to utilize high dietary lipid, but different lipid sources might affect this limited capacity. In order to compare the effects of different lipid sources with different lipid levels, juvenile grass carp were fed one of nine diets containing three oils [lard, plant oil mixed by maize and linseed oil, and n-3 high unsaturated fatty acid-enriched (HUFA-enriched) fish oil] at three lipid levels (20, 60 and 100 g kg(-1) dry diet) for 8 weeks. Dietary arachidonic acid and hepatic desaturation of fatty acids in obese zucker rats

The effect of low levels of dietary arachidonic acid (20:4n-6) on Δ6 desaturation of linoleic acid (18:2n-6) and α-linolenic acid (18:3n-3), and on Δ5 desaturation of dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (20:3n-6) were studied in liver microsomes of obese Zucker rats, in comparison with their lean littermates. Fatty acid composition of serum total lipids and of phospholipids from liver microsomes and from total heart and kidney was determined to see whether modifications of desaturation rate, if any, were reflected in the tissue fatty acid profiles. Abstract Regardless of age or gender, resistance training or provision of adequate amounts of dietary protein (PRO) or essential amino acids (EAA) can increase muscle protein synthesis (MPS) in healthy adults. Combined PRO or EAA ingestion proximal to resistance training, however, can augment the post-exercise MPS response and has been shown to elicit a greater anabolic effect than exercise plus carbohydrate. Evidence of the Gluten-Free and Casein-Free Diet in Autism Spectrum Disorders

In autism spectrum disorders, many parents resort to alternative treatments and these are generally perceived as risk free. Among these, the most commonly used is the gluten-free, casein-free diet. The objective of this work was to conduct a systematic review of studies published from 1970 to date related to the gluten-free, casein-free diet in autism spectrum disorder patients. Few studies can be regarded as providing sound scientific evidence since they were blinded randomized controlled trials, and even these were based on small sample sizes, reducing their validity. Trophic habits of Muscardinus avellanarius (Mammalia Gliridae) as revealed by multiple stable isotope analysis

Multiple stable isotope analysis was used to investigate the diet of the common dormouse Muscardinus avellanarius in a mixed Mediterranean forest. δ13C and δ15N values of dormouse tissues compared to those of the vegetal and animal sources available in the area showed that the isotopic composition of both adult and juvenile M. avellanarius could be explained by a mixture of vegetal and animal organic matter. The isotopic composition of the assimilated nitrogen was mostly explained by the organic matter from flora. Efficient Synthesis of 1,4,7-Triazacyclononane and 1,4,7-Triazacyclononane-Based Bifunctional Chelators for Bioconjugation

The reaction of diethylenetriamine with chloroacetaldehyde yielded a bicyclic aminal intermediate for the synthesis of 1,4,7-triazacyclononane (TACN), a macrocyclic polyamine the derivatives of which find applications as catalysts, bleaching agents, and chelators for medical imaging. This new synthetic protocol outperforms the synthetic methods described so far because it does not involve any cyclization step. Reaction of pernosylated diethylenetriamine and 2-substituted propane-1,3-diols in dry THF in the presence of triphenylphosphine and diisopropyl azodicarboxylate gives the corresponding protected 9-substituted 1,4,7-triazacyclodecanes. The Mitsunobu reaction was also used in the preparation of 3-substituted 1,5,9-triazacyclododecanes and macrocyclic pyridine derivatives.

Der groste bisher isolierte Ring enthalt je sieben Grundbausteine und besitzt 119 Ringglieder bei einem Molekulargewicht von 1920. Eine gute Trennung der Oligomeren wurde durch Adsorptionssaulenchromatographie erzielt. Hierbei wurde ein Elutionsmittel mit Losungsmittelgradient verwendet.
