Abstract The classification of familial amyloid neuropathies (FAP) is traditionally based on clinical and regional aspects. In the last 10 years more than 40 mutations of the transthyretin gene have been found to be responsible for different clinical forms of amyloidosis including familial FAP.FAP II is caused by a mutation on the codon 58 of the transthyretin gene. In gastric cancer (GC) the loss of genomic stability represents a key molecular step that occurs early in the carcinogenesis process and creates a permissive environment for the accumulation of genetic and epigenetic alterations in tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes. It is widely accepted that GC can follow at least two major genomic instability pathways, microsatellite instability (MSI) and chromosome instability (CIN). MSI is responsible for a well-defined subset of GCs. CIN represents a more common pathway comprising heterogeneous subsets of GC. 4-Methylthioamphetamine (4-MTA) belongs to a group of new amphetamine derivatives that is usually sold as "ecstasy" or "flatliners" on the illicit drug market. Large interindividual differences in 4-MTA mediated toxicity have been reported in humans. Therefore, we tested whether CYP2D6 or its variant alleles as well as CYP3A4 influence the susceptibility to 4-MTA. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the leading cause of chronic liver disease and is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. However, there have been few studies on the distribution and genetic diversity of HCV isolates in non-developed countries. Here, the complete genome sequence of an HCV genotype 1 isolate from Equatorial Guinea is reported, the first complete HCV-1 genome of African origin. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that this sequence always grouped with sequences of genotype 1, but did not group clearly with any subtype described so far. Dietary intake and food pattern were determined among university students. Nine hundred-eighteen students (384 males and 534 females) completed a 24 hour recall and a questionnaire. This study showed an average energy intake of 10.3 and 8.0 MJ among male and female university students. The mean intakes of energy and magnesium for males and energy, iron, magnesium and zinc for females were lower to the Spanish Recommended Intakes. For males, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks bring about 18, 33, 25 and 27% of total dairy energy, respectively, however, for females a 15, 34, 23 and 27% of total dairy energy were obtained for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, respectively. Aim: Modelling the evolution between the ages of 2 and 3 y of the energy intake and the variety of free food choices at lunch time in relation to children's and context variables. Methods: One-year follow-up from 2 to 3 y old. In a nursery canteen, food choices at lunch were recorded by trained assistants who monitored portion size.
