The article aims at combining two methodological approaches, namely corpus linguistics and discourse studies. Both of these approaches are present in corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS) which makes use of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. First, an attempt is made to discuss the differences and similarities of these two traditions based on Leech’s (2000) listing. However, it turns out that this listing does not include all necessary viewpoints, and those are further discussed. Tutkimus tarkastelee Helsingin Sanomissa vuosien 2008 ja 2013 välillä julkaistuja työttömien mielipidekirjoituksia. Tutkimustehtävänä on ymmärtää millaisia sosiokulttuurisia merkityksiä ja arvoja työlle ja työttömyydelle annetaan. Keskeisinä tutkimuskäsitteinä toimivat työ ja työttömyys, jotka määritellään laajasti aiempaa tutkimuskirjallisuutta hyödyntäen. Tutkimuksen metodologia pohjaa diskurssianalyysiin. Using superordinate intersectionality as a theoretical framework, this article explores notions of men and masculinities within right wing populism. It is attentive to how the right-wing populist media in Finland and Sweden construct white Nordic masculinities through discursive interactions across several axes of difference: gender (masculinities); sexuality (heterosexuality); social class (elites); and race (whitenesses). Purpose The authors focus on “writing women into ‘history’” in this study, embracing the notion of cisgender and ethnicity in relation to the “historic turn”. As such, the authors bring forward the stories of the US Pan American Airway’s Guided Missile Range Division (GMRD) and the White women who worked there. Tämä teksti esittelee tutkimustani, joka tarkastelee länsimaisen esittävän taiteilijan yleisöpuhetta eli sitä tapaa, jolla taiteilija puhuu yleisöstään. Aineistonani on viisi vuonna 2009 tekemääni taiteilijahaastattelua. Hyödynnän aineiston tarkastelussa diskurssianalyysin menetelmää, jonka tavoitteena on käsitys siitä, miten kielessä ja puheessa tuotetaan todellisuutta. Jotta ymmärtäisin 2000-luvulla toimivaa taiteilijaa ja sitä, miten hän puhuu yleisöstään, koen välttämättömäksi nostaa esiin ne lainalaisuudet, jotka ensisijaisesti vaikuttavat taiteilijan työskentelyyn yleisön parissa.
