RE: Risk of Postpolypectomy Bleeding With Uninterrupted Clopidogrel Therapy in an Industry-Independent, Double-Blind, Randomized, Trial

Effect of sulpiride in endogenous depression.
1984
Clinical practice and pharmacological data suggest a possible antidepressive action of sulpiride given in low dosages. To further explore the therapeutic efficacy of sulpiride 11 patients with an endogenous type of depression were studied during treatment with an oral daily dose of 150 mg sulpiride. The present data allows the conclusion that (A) low dosed sulpiride seems to act as an antidepressant in severe and milder forms of depression, (B) a clinical progress is seen earlier than is common during treatment with tricyclics and (C) a significant increase of drive is observable. However, sulpiride maintenance therapy did not prevent early relapse into depression. The preliminary nature of…
Biowaiver monographs for immediate-release solid oral dosage forms: Zidovudine (azidothymidine).
2012
Literature data on the properties of zidovudine relevant to waiver of in vivo bioequivalence (BE) testing requirements for the approval of immediate-release (IR) solid oral dosage forms containing zidovudine alone or in combination with other active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are reviewed. Solubility, dissolution, and permeability data for zidovudine, along with its dosing schedule, therapeutic index and pharmacokinetic properties, and reports related to BE/bioavailability were all taken into consideration. Data for solubility and permeability suggest that zidovudine belongs to Class I according to the Biopharmaceutics Classification System. Also, zidovudine is not a narrow therapeut…
The role of histamine in doxorubicin and teniposide-induced cardiotoxicity in dog and mouse.
1987
In previous studies we reported that teniposide (VM26) induced acute cardiac effects in dogs seem to be related to a release of histamine and that a prior treatment with chlorpheniramine, an H, histamine blocker, prevents the onset of this phenomenon. Since histamine and other vasoactive substances also seem to be involved in doxorubicin (DXR)-induced acute cardiac effects, experiments were undertaken in the aim to prevent, as in the case of VM26, the onset of this phenomenon by administering chlorpheniramine. Since DXR-induced chronic cardiomyopathy also seems to be related to the same mechanisms involved in the onset of acute cardiac effects induced by this drug, additional studies were …
Species-dependent stereospecific serum protein binding of the oral anticoagulant drug phenprocoumon
1978
13 mammalian species are classified into 3 clearcut groups with respect to the stereospecific serum protein-binding of phenprocoumon: 2 groups showing opposed stereospecific binding characteristics and a 3rd group exhibiting no stereospecific binding. Structural differences in the albumin molecule account for these stereospecific differences in serum protein-binding.
Role of Levo-tetrahydropalmatine and its metabolites for management of chronic pain and opioid use disorders.
2021
Abstract Background Opioids have been prescribed to reduce suffering from pain and to enhance quality of life. Due to the addictive potential and the lack of other effective alternatives to treat severe acute and chronic pains, opioids remain a serious public health issue. While, opioids directly influence the drug-seeking behavior, tolerance and withdrawal processes, through neuroadaptation, the brain's endogenous opioid system also adapts in the presence of chronic pain and could contribute to the difficulty of treatment. Despite the seemingly obvious interaction between the presence of pain and opioid-abuse, little is known about the underlying mechanisms in the brain. Purpose To review …
Growth vs. Level Effect of Population Change on Economic Development: An Inspection into Human-Capital-Related Mechanisms
2011
This paper studies the different mechanisms and the dynamics through which demography is channeled to the economy. We analyze the role of demographic changes in the economic development process by studying the transitional and the long-run impact of both the rate of population growth and the initial population size on the levels of per capita human capital and income. We do that in an enlarged Lucas-Uzawa model with intergenerational altruism. In contrast to the existing theoretical literature, the long-run level effects of demographic changes, i.e. their impact on the levels of the variables along the balanced growth path, are deeply characterized in addition to the more standard long-run …
