Environmental features and land use of Etna (Sicily — Italy)

Etna is the greatest volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the world. It is a complex strata-volcano formed of lava flows alternating with pyroclastic materials emitted over various eruptive areas which have, over centuries, built up the actual volcano. The climate in the Etna area is basically Mediterranean but rainfall and temperatures are affected by height, exposure of slopes, by winds and by clouds coming from the coast. Temperature distribution is uniform but rainfall is irregular. Moist winds from the sea bring rain to the eastern slopes. This study investigates children’s social and moral practices as they appear in everyday classroom peer interaction. Its focus is on the relations between children’s interaction and moral understandings in situ. Juxtaposing the most archetypal ways of addressing and investigating morality in mainstream educational psychology, this study approaches morality is as it handled and man- aged as part of everyday intersubjective interaction. Data Mining Algorithms for Knowledge Extraction

In this paper, we study the methods, techniques, and algorithms used in data mining, and from the studied algorithms, we emphasized the clustering algorithms, more precisely on the K-means algorithm. This algorithm was first studied using the Euclidean distance, then modifying the distance between the clusters using the distances Mahalanobis and Canberra. After implementing the algorithms in C/C++, we compared the clustering of the three algorithms, after which we modified them and studied the distance between the clusters.

Methodological analysis of the spanish production on doctoral thesis in mathematical education (1976-1998)

This study shows a comprehensive vision of the Mathematics Education at methodological level, using as base the doctoral dissertations (thesis) accomplished in Spanish universities between the years 1976-1998. A central finding of this study has been the design of an evaluation methodological instrument, which will be useful for the future analysis of research. In addition general recommendations are offered with the aim to improve quality of the research in Mathematics Education.

The estimation of the fundamental matrix from a set of corresponding points is a relevant topic in epipolar stereo geometry [10]. Due to the high amount of outliers between the matches, RANSAC-based approaches [7, 13, 29] have been used to obtain the fundamental matrix. In this paper two new contributes are presented: a new normalized epipolar error measure which takes into account the shape of the features used as matches [17] and a new strategy to compare fundamental matrices.
