Abstract A wide range of ecological, agricultural, hydrological and meteorological applications at local to regional scales requires decametric biophysical data. However, before the launch of SENTINEL-2A, only few decametric products are produced and most of them remain limited by the small number of available observations, mostly due to a moderate revisit frequency combined with cloud occurrence. Analyse spatiale des disparités régionales dans l'Europe élargie

The aim of this paper is to study the regional inequalities in the enlarged European Union using Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis applied to per capita GDP for 258 regions of EU27 over the period 1995-2000. Strong evidence in favor of global and local autocorrelation as well as spatial heterogeneity is found for the wealth distribution. We also show that the enlargement process leads to a new North-West - East polarization scheme instead of the previous results obtained in the literature highlighting a North-South polarization scheme. Implications for regional development and cohesion policies are finally explored.

L'ensemble des données ici présentés a été rempli avec les informations et le format de la base de données propre à NOW (Néogène mammifères de l'Ancien Monde), ainsi que avec les informations supplémentaires auprès de sources diverses. Unified mapping of the dynamics of solitons in fiber-optic waveguides

This thesis examines the dynamical behaviour of solitons which are affected, when entering a fiber-optic waveguide, by a slight distortion of profile as compared to the stationary profile in the guide. Our theoretical model combines the propagation equation of the electric field (Non-Linear Schrödinger Equation) and the system of equations of evolution of the physical parameters of the pulse (derived from the collective coordinates theory). Timing and patterns of the ENSO signal in Africa over the last 30 years: insights from normalized difference vegetation index data.

Abstract A more complete picture of the timing and patterns of the ENSO signal during the seasonal cycle for the whole of Africa over the three last decades is provided using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Indeed, NDVI has a higher spatial resolution and is more frequently updated than in situ climate databases, and highlights the impact of ENSO on vegetation dynamics as a combined result of ENSO on rainfall, solar radiation, and temperature. Application of the collective coordinate method to the analysis of the dynamics of mode-locked fiber lasers

Mode-locked fiber laser are among the few systems that allow to achieve a variety of elaborate optical functions, by means of few optical components. The use of dispersion management brings to this type of lasers a variety of behaviors, which is so rich that the complete mapping and detailed analysis of the stable states becomes impractical when conventional tools based on the intra-cavity field propagation equations, are used.
