Martial arts and combat sports have been traditionally associated with masculinity, and a range of contradictory meanings have been attached to women’s engagement and experiences. The present study draws on cultural praxis and feminist poststructuralist frameworks to explore how female martial artists are subjectified to dominant cultural discourses surrounding fighting and competition. Interviews with nine female judoka (judo athletes) were gathered in Finland and analyzed using Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA). In his 1895 adaptation of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata prepared for the Kraków Theatre, Stanisław Koźmian, wishing to avoid stage ‘archaeologism,’ based the text on the contemporary adaptation by Charles Maurice Don- nay, to which he added several scenes taken from the Greek original. The ambitious plan to translate a theatrical experience from over two thousand years ago into the language of modern communication was achieved by introducing contemporary political allusions. Only the State had a legal personality at the end of the 1789 Revolution. Derived from the phrase "[t] he State is the legal personification of a nation", the above-mentioned personality endows the first (state), to the detriment of the second (the nation), subjective rights. What about after the democratic revolution of 1989, that is to say, some two centuries later? This study attempts to show the revanche of the nation in legal theory from a context in which it was particularly bullied. Maģistra darba tēma ir Donnas Tartas Dadzītis kā 21. gadsmita izaugsmes romāns. Darba mērķis ir analizēt Tartas romānu balstoties uz izaugsmes romāna iezīmēm, lai atklātu, kā romāns atbilst noteiktā žanra prasībām, kā arī kādas tradicionālās žanra iezīmes autore ir saglabājusi un kādas izmainījusi, lai stāsts labāk atbilstu mūsdienu situācijai. Pētījuma rezultāti atklāja, ka, lai gan Donna Tarta ir sekojusi izaugsmes romānu tradīcijām rakstot romānu, autore ir izmainījusi dažus elementus un to pielietojumu. Šādas izmaiņas ne tikai padarījušas darbu aktuālāku 21. gadsimtam un interesantāku lasītājiem, bet arī ļāvušas Tartai atsvaidzināt klasisko žanru.
