An Icy Force Both Foul and Fair : The Theme of Love Versus Fear in the Dutch Bubbed Version of Disney's Frozen

This study compares the songs from the original, English-language version of the 2013 Disney film Frozen to those of the Dutch dubbed version, investigating how the thematic representation of love and fear differ between these versions. To support this inherently qualitative analysis, this study employs the triangle of aspects, an analytical model that identifies certain aspects and variables central to animated musical film dubbing, allowing a quantification of differences between dubbed versions. Frazeoloģismu tulkošana ir viens no sarežģītākajiem uzdevumiem, ko tulkotājs var uzņemties, jo frazeoloģismi ir sarežģīti izteicieni un starp abām valodām pastāv kultūras atšķirības. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt frazeoloģismus latviešu valodas tulkojumā filmās un seriālos. Mērķa sasniegšanai tika veikta satura analīze, kurā tika analizētas sešas filmas un viens seriāls, un aptaujas pētījums, kurā tika apkopoti tulkotāju viedokļi par frazeoloģismu atveidi. Pētījumā tika konstatēts, ka visbiežāk sastopamais veids ir caurspīdīgie (transparent) frazeoloģismi un visbiežāk izmantotā tulkošanas stratēģija bija parafrāze. El nucli de l’article és l’anàlisi i la comparació de la fonètica, la morfologia, la sintaxi i el lèxic de cada traducció catalana, que s’emmarca en els models lingüístics i de traducció vigents en el període objecte d’estudi. In these pages we reflect in particular on the cultural meanings conveyed by Woody Allen's film Sleeper and on their recontextualization which took place in the two adaptations for the Italian public. More generally, we aim to reflect on the outcomes of the translation of comedy into cinema and to think about how it, more than other translation processes, involves the revision and, sometimes, the rewriting not only of single jokes and gags, but of entire dialogues, with the aim of recontextualizing those comic jokes and situations to the cultural milieu and social intersubjective practice of the audience for which the dialogues are translated
El doblaje de Profilage: un estudio de caso

El presente estudio se centra en el análisis de la gestión del proyecto de traducción para el doblaje de la serie de ficción de producción francesa Profilage (Robert y Lebarbier, 2009- 2015) y persigue una doble finalidad. Por una parte, describir el proceso de la traducción audiovisual (tav), tomando en consideración la interacción de los diferentes agentes del proceso con las fases del proyecto (Ferrer, 2011). Por otra parte, analizar las particularidades que presenta este proyecto de tav en la combinación francés-español, mediante el análisis de 5 temporadas que revelará normas de traducción presentes en el género crime procedural.

An important part in dubbing an animated musical film – as in any translation – is setting a purpose (perhaps subconsciously) for that particular project and establishing a set of priorities to achieve that purpose. This article investigates the purpose, or skopos, of the dubbing process of the Dutch songs from the 2013 Disney film Frozen, and analyses the effect of those skopi on the songs. This analysis uses the triangle of aspects, a comprehensive model to compare a dubbed version of a song to the original on several important aspects, such as rhythm, lip synchrony, and sense. Šajā darbā tiek pētīta kultūras atsauču atveide audiovizuālajos tulkojumos (AVT). Šajā pētījumā tiek izmantotas lingvistiskā satura analīze, kontrastīvā analīze un multimodālā diskursa analīze. Pētījuma korpusu veido kultūras atsauces, atklātas animācijas filmās "Šreks". Atsauces tika iedalītas reālajās un intertekstuālajās atsaucēs. Korpusa izpēte parādīja, ka animācijas filmās "Šreks" atrodamo kultūras atsauču atveidē izmantotas 14 tulkošanas stratēģijas, no kurām visbiežāk tika izmantotas svītrošanas, adaptācijas un vispārināšanas stratēģijas. Interjections and Pragmatic Errors in Dubbing

This paper consists of an analysis of the expressive secondary interjections found in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral and their equivalents in the Spanish and Catalan dubbed versions. The contrastive analysis of the interjections in the original English version compared with the Spanish and the Catalan dubbed versions shows that the strategies followed by the translators are different: literal translation is far more frequent in Spanish than in Catalan. Literal translation often implies an error that is pragmatic in nature since it derives from the misunderstanding of the pragmatic meaning that the interjection conveys.
