IMPLICACIONES DEL USO DE BUSCADORES EN EL COMPORTAMIENTO DE COMPRA ONLINE

2009

The determinants of conversion rates in SME e-commerce websites

2018

Abstract Web retailers invest significant resources to improve the proportion of website visitors that make a purchase, also known as the conversion rate. Improving this rate is particularly important to SMEs that have traditionally lagged behind larger firms as they have found it difficult to justify the significant investment involved in website development against the historical low returns associated with an online sales channel. Identifying methods that increase conversion rates reduces these perceived barriers and increases effective SME participation in the growing e-commerce sector. This paper uses 1184 observations from 6 SME websites to identify and analyse the factors, or combina…

Mobile banking and consumer behaviour: New insights into the diffusion pattern

2004

Technological advancement has challenged the providers of financial services; the very nature of selling and buying financial services has changed. Mobile devices are among the newest channels to conduct banking electronically. This paper focuses on studying diffusion and adopters of mobile banking services. Previous research has identified the typical characteristics of a potential adopter in the electronic services era; this paper explores some contradictory empirical findings drawn from a mobile banking survey. The results provide an indication of the characteristics of potential subsequent adopters of mobile banking, and of differences between user segments. Consequently, the authors ar…

A conjoint analysis of customers' preferences for e-banking channels

2021

Internet has transformed the manner in which banks interact with the customers. The purpose of the paper is to measure customers' preferences towards different channel attributes namely: internet banking, mobile banking and payment portals at a composite level that reflect the relative importance of usage attributes, i.e., payment type, transaction size, motivation to use and rate of urgency. Conjoint analysis was applied to estimate utilities for these attributes and to determine the existence of consumer groups with similar preference profiles. Furthermore, our study shows that the most preferred combination of utilities are customers preference to use payment portal, for 'paying bills' o…

Determinants of website traffic: the case of European fashion apparel retailers

2014

The globalization process together with the extraordinary growth in the use of Internet offer firms new growth opportunities. Retail firms are using a multichannel approach, involving the Internet, in their internationalization strategies. Website traffic as measured by unique users and online awareness is among the measures for assessing the success of the online channel. There is little evidence, however, linking website traffic and the characteristics of the retail multichannel internationalization process. In order to fill this gap, this paper analyses the factors explaining the retailer's international website traffic. Website traffic data for a sample of European fashion apparel retai…

Online information quality as determinant of perceived risk reduction in e-commerce: an application to apparel virtual stores

2011

The main purpose of this paper is to analyse the role of information quality as a mechanism for reducing virtual shopping perceived risk and inducing greater online purchase intent. In this way, a theoretical model is presented which explains the inverse relation of information quality (referred to product and transaction-associated services) and perceived risk, and the influence of these variables on online shopping intention. 350 young consumers navigated the web page of a fictional clothes brand, and were asked to select a product and complete the purchasing process. Data analysis shows that perceived risk related to the virtual store is a significant, negative antecedent of online purch…

Conversion rate determinants in e-commerce websites. What about moderation effects?

2018

Online retailers invest significant resource to improve conversion rates, defined as the proportion of website visitors that make a purchase. Using 1,184 observations from six e-commerce websites, this paper aims to analyse conversion rate determinants, also considering moderation effects of seasonality and webpage speed of load. Results show that free shipping and discounts policy have a positive effect on the conversion rate, moderated by seasonality and load speed. These finding could be useful guidelines for e-commerce managers in order to allocate their limited resources to the most relevant factor to increase online sales.

The emperor’s new clothes : self-explorative engagement in virtual try-on service experiences positively impacts brand outcomes

2023

Purpose Virtual try-on (VTO) technology offers an opportunity for fashion and beauty brands to provide enriched self-explorative experiences. The increased popularity of VTOs makes it urgent to understand the drivers and consequences of the exploration of styles in VTO contexts (herein called self-explorative engagement). Notably, little is known about the antecedent and outcomes of the personalized self-explorative experience central to VTOs. This paper aims to fill this knowledge gap. Design/methodology/approach An online quasi-experiment (N = 500) was conducted in the context of fashion and beauty VTOs. Participants were asked to virtually try on sunglasses or lipsticks and subsequently…

Investigating switching intention of e-commerce live streaming users.

2022

As a new way of shopping, e-commerce live streaming (ELS) has gained unprecedented growth and popularity in the past years, especially in China. Because of the considerable rivalry in the ELS market, users frequently switch between ELS platforms. However, the switching intention of ELS users is yet to be explored for gaining new knowledge and practical insights. This study aims to improve the understanding of ELS users' switching intentions by developing an extended Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) model. Using structural equation modeling, the study model was examined based on 443 valid responses from an online survey questionnaire. SmartPLS 3.3.2 was used to validate the causal model, and most of …
