Domestic violence in Africa: a glance through the DHS survey

Recent data states that 33 per cent of women in Sub-Saharan Africa are survivors of domestic violence. This work aims at assessing the association between women’s characteristics, their environment, and their history of violence in fifteen African countries. Three kinds of violence were explored: physical, emotional and sexual, each one exerted by the current partner. The data are from Demographic and Health Survey, in which a special module assessed domestic violence in female respondents. Using three independent logistic regression models, we found that witnessing violence of any kind has an effect on having a violent relationship, and while female empowerment is not protective, partners …

W 2000 r. w Polsce rozpoczął się proces regionalizacji kolei. Odpowiedzialność za przewozy wojewódzkie przeniesiono na samorządy wojewódzkie. Przedmiotem badania były powiązania międzywojewódzkie pociągami osobowymi Wielkopolski i 7 województw ościennych (razem 33 trasy). Na 15 z nich prowadzone są przewozy pasażerskie. Liczba połączeń jest zróżnicowana. W planach transportowych 19 linii opisywanych jest w obydwu dokumentach (Wielkopolska i sąsiadujący region). 8 jest pominiętych, a 6 znajduje odniesienie w jednym z planów. Basque pilota is a traditional sport played mainly by men. A project emerged in 2005 to promote female participation: Emakumea Pilotari (Woman pelota player). In this article we present the main points that emerged from an ethnographic study of the social relationships that playing Basque pilota can provide. The study was carried out in 2011-2012 season with a purposive sample of 28 adult women Basque pilota players (pilotaris) (between 22 and 60 years old). 26 participants were pilotaris in recreational groups and the other two were their trainers. Valodas apguve parasti notiek, izmantojot četras prasmes: klausīšanos, runāšanu, lasīšanu un rakstīšanu. Rakstīšana tiek uzskatīta par visgrūtāk apgūstamo prasmi. Dienasgrāmatas tika izvēlētas par darbarīku, lai uzlabotu skolēnu rakstītprasmi ar atspoguļojošās rakstīšanas palīdzību. Diplomdarba mērķis bija noskaidrot, kā dienasgrāmatu rakstīšana varētu uzlabot 7. Klases skolēnu rakstītprasmi. Lai sasniegtu šo mērķi, 2016. Gada pavasara semestrī Ogres Valsts ģimnāzijā tika veikts pētījums ar trīspadsmit septītās klases skolēniem. Klasē tika izmēģināti seši dažādi dienasgrāmatu rakstīšanas veidi.
