The article continues the discussion about the identity and history of the Polish social services. In particular, it addresses the genesis and beginnings of the formation of the educational system of social workers. The memory about the beginnings is an indispensable element of thinking about the future in the present. Coming up with solutions for the future without respect for the achievements of the past creates a risk of committing errors of the past generations. This study investigated the use of a playful, narrative, vignette-based method, called Story Magician’s Play Time (SMPT), in supporting children’s social-emotional reasoning and in helping children practice their social skills. MetaEmotions at Schools is a SEL program that aims at promoting the culture of emotional and metaemotional intelligence in schools, and at improving emotional awareness both among teachers and students.
