Abstract Studies of banking competition and competitive behavior both within and across countries typically utilise only one of the few measures that are available. In trying to assess the relative competitive position of banking markets in 14 European countries, existing indicators of competition are found to give conflicting predictions across countries, within countries, and over time. This is because indicators of competition tend to measure different things and are additionally influenced by cross-country differences in cost efficiency, fee income levels, real economic growth and inflation. The role of the financial system in the growth–inflation link: the OECD experience

Abstract This paper jointly estimates the effects of financial development and inflation on growth using both cross-section and time-series dimensions of the data on inflation, growth, and some banking and stock market indicators over the period 1961–1993 for a sample of OECD countries. Overall, the results indicate, first, that the long-run costs of inflation are not explained by policies of financial repression and, second, that if inflation affects growth through its interaction with financial market conditions, this is not the only (nor the most important) channel.

A mathematical model of gaseous fuel solenoid injector for spark ignition engine has been realized and validated through experimental data. The gas injector was studied with particular reference to the complex needle motion during the opening and closing phases, which strongly affects the amount of fuel injected. As is known, in fact, when the injector nozzle is widely open, the mass flow depends only on the fluid pressure and temperature upstream the injector: this allows one to control the injected fuel mass acting on the “injection time” (the period during which the injector solenoid is energized). The aim of this article is to analyse the efficiency of eurobond issuers within the primary market, from 1995 to 2000. The study includes a reference to theoretical discussion and to the methodology used; detailed explanation of the variables considered which, in order to supplement those strictly financial, include others such as spread from Interest Rate Risk (IRR) and respective swap; rating, duration and size; and macroeconomic fundamentals of the issuer country. Results and conclusions obtained from the static and dynamic efficiency analyses are then illustrated and discussed.
