Vecāka gadagājuma cilvēku subjektīvā labizjūta integrācijas kā līdzdalības procesā sociālās aprūpes mājā
2013
Anotācija Promocijas darba pētījuma aktualitāti nosaka pārmaiņas, kuras saistītas ar sociālekonomisko problemātiku Latvijā 90-os gados un tās izpratnes nepieciešamību, risinot vecāka gadagājuma cilvēku integrācijas iespējas jaunā sociālā vidē. Vecāka gadagājuma cilvēki tika izolēti no iepriekšējās dzīves vietas un viņiem bija nepieciešams sociāli pedagoģiskais atbalsts integrācijai sociālās aprūpes mājā. Vecāka gadagājuma cilvēku integrēšanās sociālajā vidē ir apgrūtināta līdzdalības sabiedriskajā dzīvē iespēju nepietiekamības dēļ. Teorētiskās analīzes rezultātā izveidots novecošanas procesa izpētes teorētiskais ietvars, noteikti labizjūtas un līdzdalības rādītāji. Pētījums veikts, lai papl…
EFFECTS OF A SPECIFIC FLEXIBILITY TRAINING PROGRAM ON SPINAL RANGE OF MOTION IN OLDER WOMEN
2013
Introduction Aging-related reduced spinal mobility can interfere with the execution of important functional skills and activities in elderly women. However there is a lack of studies about the effects of range of motion exercises on flexibility outcomes in older populations and a lack of consensus regarding the prescription of stretching exercises for older adults (ACSM, 2009). For these reasons the purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which spinal extension and flexion could be improved in a population of older women participating in a 8-week flexibility training program. Methods Thirty female volunteers were cluster randomized into either a control group [CG] (n: 13; age: 69…
Towards Ethical Guidelines of Using Telepresence Robots in Residential Care
2021
AbstractRobotic telepresence is a potential technology to help alleviating the loneliness of elderly people. The impacts of long-term use of telepresence robots in residential care are not well known. We were interested in how using a telepresence robot influences the resident, family members and care workers at a facility, and what challenges and solutions there are for wider adoption of such robots in residential care. With a telepresence robot Double, we arranged a series of three trials in two separate residential care facilities: one 12-week trial in a private facility and two successive 6-week trials in a public facility. In each trial, we installed the telepresence robot in a room of…
Elderly caretaking: badanti versus welfare policies. Family needs have only private answers.
2011
In Italy the wight of the assistance to the population that grows old reverts entirely on families and in particular on women, the adult daughters, who often ask for the help of immigrants caregivers. The abstract presents a paper on the different "welfare" answers that the italian government, and other EU member States, have given to family needs and which results they determine on job market.
"I use it correctly!": The use of ICTs among Italian grandmothers in a generational perspective
2018
In this project, we investigated the role played by digital media and information and communication technologies (ICTs) in building intergenerational and intragenerational relations for grandparents. Specifically, we investigated the possible relationships between grandmothers, children, and grandchildren, with the aim of understanding the dynamics of intergenerational exchanges and how grandmothers experience the use of the Internet as a tool to facilitate communication with family members. The research shows that the reflections regarding the role of the Internet among elderly people are often linked to a generational identity and generational belonging and involve constant comparison wit…
STUDY OF SAGITTAL SPINAL ROM IN ELDERLY WOMEN AFTER A SPECIFIC FLEXIBILITY-TRAINING PROGRAM
2013
The reduction of spinal mobility is one luckless consequence of the aging process. In particular, scarcity of exercise appears to be the principal reason of aging-related spinal dysfunction syndrome, which is characterized by adaptive shortening of soft tissue and a partial loss of range of spinal motion (1). Several recommendations promoting the spinal flexibility in elderly people are based on stretching programs that include static and ballistic exercises and PNF techniques (2). Several studies showed that specific training programs could improve body balance (3), bodyweight distribution on feet (4), muscle strength and flexibility (5) in elders. In particular, Imagama et al. (2011) show…
