New crystal structures of fluorinated α-aminophosphonic acid analogues of phenylglycine

2020

The four novel phosphonic acid analogues of phenylglycine with various substituents in phenyl ring (mostly fluorine atoms) have been synthesized by using procedure of amidoalkylation of phosphorus trichloride with aromatic aldehydes and acetamide. The NMR, ESI-MS spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-Ray diffraction methods were used to characterize unusual structures: the amino-(4-trifluoromethylbenzyl)-(1), amino-(3,4-difluorobenzyl)-(2), amino-(2,4,6-trifluorobenzyl)-(3), and amino-(2-fluoro-4-hydroxybenzyl)-(4) phosphonic acids. Since the α-aminophosphonates have a potential for biological activity and could be used as building blocks in medicinal chemistry, it is important to know their d…

Strecker reactions with hexacyanoferrates as non-toxic cyanide sources

2019

The Strecker reaction is the most widely applied three-component reaction. Although highly useful for the preparation of α-amino nitriles, α-amino acids, hydantoins and numerous related compounds, the need for the application of toxic sources of HCN limits its application in both academic and industrial settings. Here, we present a facile protocol for Strecker reactions using a mixture of potassium ferri- and ferrocyanides as a non-toxic substitute.

The photochemistry of mono- and dinuclear cyclometalated bis(tridentate)ruthenium(ii) complexes: dual excited state deactivation and dual emission

2016

The synthesis and characterization of a series of weakly emissive mononuclear cyclometalated [Ru(dpb-R)(tpy)](+) complexes with functional groups R of varying electron-donating characters at the dpb ligand are described (dpbH = 1,3-di(2-pyridyl)benzene, tpy = 2,2';6',2''-terpyridine, 1(+): R = NHCOMe, 2(+): R = NH2, 3(+): R = COOEt, 4(+): R = COOH). Steady-state emission spectroscopy in the temperature range between 298 K and 77 K revealed a previously unrecognized excited state deactivation pathway via low-lying triplet ligand-to-ligand ((3)LL'CT) charge transfer states in addition to the well-known pathway via(3)MC states. Thermal activation barriers for depopulation of the emissive metal…

Synthesis, crystal structures and magnetic properties of picolinate-bridged copper(II) chains

2018

The paper reports the synthesis, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of two copper(II) coordination polymers, Cu2(L1)4 (1) and Cu3(L2)6 (2), based on rigid ethynylene-bridged ditopic ligands containing one picolinate subunit (L1 = 5-(pyridin-3-ylethynyl)picolinate anion; L2 = 5-((4-(methoxycarbonyl)phenyl)ethynyl)picolinate anion). Both 1 and 2 have a chain structure. In 1, the repeating unit in the chain is a doubly bridged picolinate dicopper(II) complex, whereas 2 is built upon trimeric units where the Cu2+ ions are also connected by double picolinate bridges. Both compounds exhibit antiferromagnetic interactions in the solid state. The magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were analyze…

Tetracationic and Tetraanionic Manganese Porphyrins: Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Characterization

2017

International audience; The electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry of four tetrapositively charged and two tetranegatively charged porphyrins were characterized in two nonaqueous solvents (dimethyl sulfoxide and N,N-dimethylformamide) containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate. The tetrapositively charged compounds are represented by the tetrapyridylporphyrins [TRPyPM]4+(X-)4, where R is a methyl or [2-[2-(2-methoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy]ethyl group, M = MnIIII, MnIIICl, CuII, or PdII, and X = I- or Cl-. The tetranegatively charged porphyrins are represented by the tetrasulfonato derivatives [TPPSMn(OAc)]4-(NH4+)4 and [TArPSMn(OAc)]4-(NH4+)4, where Ar = 4-O-[2-[2-(2-methoxy)ethoxy]eth…

Studies on the Reduction of [(C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Mo 2 O 5 ] in Methanol/Water/Acetate Solutions by On‐Line Electrochemical Flowcell and Electrospray Mass S…

2003

The complex [Cp*2Mo2O5] (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) and its electrochemical reduction products in acetic acid/acetate-buffered (pH = 4.0) water/methanol solutions were investigated by combined electrochemical (EC) flowcell and on-line electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Mono-, di-, tri-, and tetranuclear organometallic molybdenum oxides were identified in the starting solution. The effect of the relevant ESI-MS parameters (ionic mode, heated capillary voltage, and heated capillary temperature) and of the concentration on the observed distribution of ions in the mass spectrometer was studied in order to minimize side reactions in the ESI chamber. It was verified that reduction in the ES…

E,Z-Stereodivergent synthesis of N-tosyl α,β-dehydroamino esters via a Mukaiyama-Michael addition

2016

The stereodivergent synthesis of N-tosyl α,β-dehydroamino esters via a Mukaiyama–Michael addition is reported. The reaction of silylketene acetals with N-tosylimines derived from β,γ-unsaturated α-keto esters in dichloromethane provided the corresponding (Z)-α,β-dehydroamino esters while the (E)-isomers were obtained when the reaction was carried out in the presence of 10 mol% copper(II) triflate.

A family of heterotetrameric clusters of chloride species and halomethanes held by two halogen and two hydrogen bonds

2016

Two previously reported 1,3,5,7,9-pentaazanona-1,3,6,8-tetraenate (PANT) chloride platinum(II) complexes [PtCl{HNC(R)NCN[C(Ph)C(Ph)]CNC(R)NH}] (R = tBu 1, Ph 2) form solvates with halomethanes 1·1¼CH2Cl2, 1·1⅖CH2Br2, and 2·CHCl3. All these species feature novel complex-solvent heterotetrameric clusters, where the structural units are linked simultaneously by two C–X⋯Cl–Pt (X = Cl, Br) halogen and two C–H⋯Cl–Pt hydrogen bonds. The geometric parameters of these weak interactions were determined using single-crystal XRD, and the natures of the XBs and HBs in the clusters were studied for the isolated model systems (1)2·(CH2Cl2)2, (1)2·(CH2Br2)2, and (2)2·(CHCl3)2 using DFT calculations and Bad…

A water molecule in the interior of a 1H-pyrazole Cu2+ metallocage

2016

Water has a great tendency to associate through hydrogen bonding with water molecules or other hydrogen bond donor or acceptor groups. Here the case of a water molecule encapsulated in the interior of a metallocage receptor is presented. The association of four copper(II) ions and two aza-macrocyclic receptors in which two 1H-pyrazole units are connected by cadaverine diamines leads to the inclusion of a water molecule into the cage, as proved by X-ray analysis and infrared spectroscopy. The included water molecule shows no hydrogen bonding with any component of the cage presenting only a weak hydrogen bond with an oxygen atom of a perchlorate counter-anion. The IR stretching vibrations pre…
