Direct measurement of the radiative tail in electron scattering from atomic nuclei

We have made a direct measurement of the radiative tail of the eleastic peak from several tungsten targets. The measured data have been compared to the results expected for both internal and external bremsstrahlung contributions. Even for targets as thick as 4% of a radiation length of tungsten, agreement between the results of the experiment and the predictions of the theory has been found to be unexpectedly good.

Field analysis of the magnetic systems for tubular linear reluctance motors

2005

We report a study of tubular linear reluctance motors (TLRMs) in various types of magnetic circuits. We carried out magnetic field analyses and calculated integral parameters of the field. We also determined static characteristics and electromagnetic parameters of the motor. We found good agreement between our calculations and tests of the motor with sinusoidal excitation.

Modulated magnetic structures of ErPb3, HoPb3, ErTl3 and HoTl3

1981

Neutron diffraction experiments have been carried out on the magnetically ordered phases of ErPb3, HoPb3, ErTl3 and HoTl3. The magnetic moments were found to be sinusoidally modulated with a propagation vector of (0, 0.2, 0.5) for the Pb-compounds and (0.38, 0.38, 0.16) for the Tl-compounds.

A 20-channel receive-only mouse array coil for a 3 T clinical MRI system

A 20-channel phased-array coil for MRI of mice has been designed, constructed, and validated with bench measurements and high-resolution accelerated imaging. The technical challenges of designing a small, high density array have been overcome using individual small-diameter coil elements arranged on a cylinder in a hexagonal overlapping design with adjacent low impedance preamplifiers to further decouple the array elements. Chlorinated and methylated dibenzothiophenes: Preparation of the model compounds and their analysis from some environmental samples

Abstract Polychlorinated and polymethylated dibenzothiophenes if occuring in the environment can cause environmental hazards and problems like chlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans. Some chlorinated and methylated dibenzothiophenes have been synthesized to serve as model compounds in environmental and toxicological analysis. The synthesis mixtures and some environmental samples have been analyzed by high resolution GC/low resolution MS. This investigation showed that the concentrations of these compounds in environmental samples were below ppb level but it did not exclude the occurence of these compounds in our environment. More investigation is needed.
