The Development of the Dealing with Challenging Interaction (DCI) Method to Evaluate Teachers’ Social Interaction Skills
2012
The Dealing with Challenging Interaction (DCI) method was developed to measure social interaction skills of teacher study groups. The participants were 70 teachers from three schools. The inter-rater agreement, Cohen’s kappa, varied between 0.57- 1.00. The discriminant validity was supported by a cluster analysis differentiating between the skilful and less skilful teachers. The results of the supplementary instrument were equivalent to the cluster analysis maintaining criterion oriented validity of the method developed. The DCI appeared to be a reliable and valid tool for measuring teachers’ social interaction skills. Peer reviewed
Evaluation of Landscape Quality in Valencia's Agricultural Gardens : a Method Adapted to Multifunctional, Territorialized Agrifood Systems (MTAS)
2022
Multifunctional agrifood systems with noteworthy roots in a territory are the result of a historical yet dynamic specialization. They are present in the place’s knowledge, social connections, collective action, the organization of institutions, innovation and capital. These systems are seen in the landscape, which becomes a resource as well as cultural and environmental heritage. In this regard, it is necessary to study the significance of the many aspects of heritage and landscape in agrifood systems to suitably manage and appreciate them as a territorial resource. This study develops and applies a quantitative method with various criteria to enable the landscape values of multifunctional,…
Trust and mistrust when students read multiple information sources about climate change
2011
Abstract The present study investigated how undergraduates judged the trustworthiness of different information sources that they read about climate change. Results showed that participants ( N = 128) judged information from textbook and official documents to be more trustworthy than information from newspapers and a commercial agent. Moreover, participants put most emphasis on content and least emphasis on date of publication when judging document trustworthiness. When judging the trustworthiness of the textbook, they emphasized criteria differently than when evaluating other types of documents. Results also indicated that readers low in topic knowledge were more likely to trust less trust…
Analysis of the current State of Enterprise Architecture Evaluation Methods and Practices
2008
First published in the Proceedings of the European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation (ECIME 2007), September 20-21, 2007, Montpellier, France Today, more and more organizations adopt enterprise architecture (EA) processes to cope with the changing environment and to improve their performance and competitiveness. However, the evaluation of EA regarding its quality and benefits is rather difficult. The studies of previous research resulted in the recognition that there is no methodology for enabling the EA evaluation by considering the whole EA. Therefore, this paper presents and analyses the current state of methods and practices to evaluate EA from different viewpoints. Th…
Prediction of Specific TCR-Peptide Binding From Large Dictionaries of TCR-Peptide Pairs
2019
Abstract The T cell repertoire is composed of T cell receptors (TCR) selected by their cognate MHC-peptides and naive TCR that do not bind known peptides. While the task of distinguishing a peptide-binding TCR from a naive TCR unlikely to bind any peptide can be performed using sequence motifs, distinguishing between TCRs binding different peptides requires more advanced methods. Such a prediction is the key for using TCR repertoires as disease-specific biomarkers. We here used large scale TCR-peptide dictionaries with state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) methods to produce ERGO (pEptide tcR matchinG predictiOn), a highly specific classifier to predict which TCR binds to which…
A Conceptual Framework for Using and Evaluating Web-Based Learning Resources in School Education
2010
Published version of an article from the journal:Journal of Information Technology Education. Also available from the publisher: http://www.jite.org/documents/Vol9/JITEv9p053-079Hadjerrouit743.pdf Web-based learning resources (WBLRs) have provided teachers with a wide range of new teachingexperiences that are not possible in traditional classroom. However, little research has beendone as to which approach to WBLRs is suitable to address issues that are pertinent to learning. This paper proposes a conceptual framework to explore the design and evaluation of WBLRs inschool education. The paper also examines the way in which the framework is used to evaluatestudents? and teachers? perceptions o…
Ocular counterrolling. Some practical considerations of a new evaluation method for diagnostic purposes.
1986
Ocular counterrolling (OCR) data taken from the literature (12 publications) were used to test the best fit (least-square fit) of these measurements with respect to three mathematical models: a sine relation between OCR and the lateral tilt stimulus, a complex cosine-square relation, and a logarithmic relation between OCR gain and tilt. The latter proved to be the best fitting function. On the basis of this model, we attempted to define a physiological transfer function between OCR gain and tilt, which could serve as a reference of normal population, assuming healthy subjects for the investigations applied. Comparison of this physiological range with pathological data demonstrated marked di…
From “Strategic Fit” to Synergy Evaluation in M&A Deals
2012
The aim of this paper is to grasp the processes underlying the genesis and assessment of synergies in M&A deals. We proceed to an in-depth scrutiny of the foundations of synergies using Porter’s model of the value chain. A discernment of the nature of synergies and the mode of their emergence is helpful to clarify to what extent and under which boundary conditions it is appropriate to apply the DCF or the real option techniques for evaluating each type of synergy. Combining both financial tools, the methodology suggested for evaluating the synergies is able to: evaluate projects of M&As, orient the selection of target firms and the definition of the premium of acquisition, and drive…
