Predictive variables of in vitro fertilization and pre-implantation embryo development in the mouse

The present study aims to analyze the cause-effect relationships among several in-vitro fertilization and pre-implantation embryo development variables in the mouse. Superovulation of hybrid (C57Bl/6JIco female X CBA/JIco male) female mice of 4-6 weeks of age was induced by a priming injection of pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin at the estrus stage of the estrous cycle followed after a 48-hr interval by human chrorionic gonadotropin. Ovulated cumulus-enclosed oocytes were inseminated with sperm from hybrid males of 12-16 weeks of age. Embryo Aneuploidy Screening for Unexplained Recurrent Miscarriage: A Minireview

Problem:  The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities in unexplained recurrent miscarriage (RM) patients and assess the role of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) in preventing subsequent pregnancy loss and improving pregnancy outcome. Method of Study:  Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis was performed in 241 RM cycles and in 35 cycles in patients undergoing PGD for sex-linked diseases (control group). Chromosomes 13, 16, 18, 21, 22, X and Y were analysed by fluorescence in situ hybridization. Resumen: Objetivo: determinar en una unidad neonatal de nivel II la frecuencia de nacimientos tras fecundación in vitro (FIV) incluyendo FIV-ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) y comparar sus características con los de fecundación natural (FN), según sean gemelares o únicos. Pacientes y método: estudio prospectivo mediante revisiones fetales desde la semana 12 de gestación tras FIV, al nacer y al año de vida. Del 1 de enero de 2004 al 31 de marzo de 2007 nacieron 7.008 recién nacidos (RN), 113 tras FIV y 6.895 por FN. Resultados: la gemelaridad es del 2,4% en FN y el 56,6% en FIV (p<0,001). In this topic, we present a computer-vision-based system to analyze the videos related to days of embryo development which automatically extracts morphokinetic features and estimates the success of implantation. Human papillomavirus infection in couples undergoing in vitro fertilization procedures: impact on reproductive outcomes.

A prospective study was performed to assess the relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in 199 infertile couples and outcome of assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs). A highly statistically significant correlation between pregnancy loss rate (proportion of pregnancies detected by β-hCG that did not progress beyond 20 weeks) and positive HPV DNA testing in the male partner of infertile couples, compared with HPV negatives, was observed (66.7% vs. 15%).

It is estimated that in 2010, 1 in every 250 adults will be a childhood cancer survivor. Today, oncological surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy achieve relatively high rates of remission and long-term survival, yet are often detrimental to fertility. Quality of life is increasingly important to long-term survivors of cancer, and one of the major quality-of-life issues is the ability to produce and raise normal children.
