In this research, polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA)/gelatin (GEL)/propolis (Ps) biocompatible nanofiber patches were fabricated via electrospinning technique. The controlled release of Propolis, surface wettability behaviors, antimicrobial activities against the S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, and biocompatibility properties with the mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were investigated in detail. By adding 0.5, 1, and 3 wt.% GEL into the 13 wt.% PVA, the morphological and mechanical results suggested that 13 wt.% PVA/0.5 wt.% GEL patch can be an ideal matrix for 3 and 5 wt.% propolis addition. Phase transitions in a colloidal dispersion flowing through a cylindrical capillary

The flow of a charged-stabilized colloidal dispersion of crystalline equilibrium structure through a cylindrical capillary is investigated. The simultaneous existence of up to three differently ordered states is observed under conditions of stationary flow. The evolution of their concentric arrangement along the capillary is determined by Bragg microscopy. For sufficient low fluxes, stationary phase distributions are obtained. While the apparent viscosity is non-monotonous and non-Newtonian, the corresponding velocity profiles are found to be piecewise parabolic and are compatible to numerical calculations. Hydrogen sensor based on a palladium-coated fibre-taper with improved time-response

Abstract We report an experimental study of the response of a hydrogen sensor, based on a palladium-coated tapered optical fibre, at different temperatures in the range −30 to 80 °C. We have studied the transmission, the time-response and the initial response velocity, being able to correlate these measurements with the pressure–composition isotherms of the Pd–H system and its phase transitions. Heating of the palladium layer optically with an auxiliary laser diode permits to improve the sensor's time-response at low temperatures.
