Abstract The preparation and magnetic properties of three copper(II) compounds of formulae [Cu2(bpcam)2(H2O)2(C2O4)] (1), [Cu2(bpcam)2(H2O)4(C4O4)] · 10 H2O (2) and Cu2(bpcam)2(C5O5)(H2O)3 (3) [bpcam = bis(2-pyrimidyl)amidate, C 2 O 4 2 - = dianion of oxalic acid , C 4 O 4 2 - = dianion of 3 , 4 - dihydroxycyclobut - 3 - ene - 1 , 2 - dione and C 5 O 5 2 - = dianion of 4 , 5 - dihydroxycyclopent - 4 - ene - 1 , 2 , 3 - trione ] are reported. Abstract Two novel, weakly antiferromagnetically coupled, tetranuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu4(PAP)2(μ2-1,1-N3)2(μ2-1,3-N3)2(μ2-CH3OH)2(N3)4 (1) (PAP = 1,4-bis-(2′-pyridylamino)phthalazine) and [Cu4(PAP3Me)2 (μ2-1,1-N3)2(μ2-1,3-N3)2(H2O)2(NO2)2]- (NO3)2 (2) (PAP3Me = 1,4-bis-(3′-methyl-2′-pyridyl)aminophthalazine) contain a unique structural with two μ2-1,1-azide intramolecular bridges, and two μ2-1,3-azide intermolecular bridges linking pairs of copper(II) centers. The title compounds were prepared by nitration of compounds 2, reduction of the dinitro derivatives 4 and diazotization of the diamino derivatives 6 followed by an intramolecular coupling reaction. Compound 4a showed good activity against Salmonella cholerasuis and Clostridium perfringens bacteria.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways, with the involvement of many inflammatory cells and mediators. This chapter compares Pseudo-relatives (‘PRs’), a construction found in most Romance languages, with ‘Subject-wieclauses’ (‘SWs’), a German construction in which the subject of an embedded wie-clause precedes the complementizer wie (‘how’; e.g. Ich sah Maria, wie sie sang, lit. “I saw Mary, how she sung”, i.e. ‘I saw Mary singing’). We show that both constructions mainly occur with perception verbs, and that they have a very similar syntactic behaviour; e.g., they can be coordinated with adjectival or prepositional small clauses and have anaphoric tense. Role of Weak Hydrogen Bonds and Halogen Bonds in 5-Halo-1,3-dimethyluracils and Their Cocrystals—A Combined Experimental and Computational Study

Seven single crystals containing either N,N-dimethyluracil (DMHU) or one of its 5-halogenated derivatives (DMXU; X = F, Cl, Br, I) were prepared using N,N-dimethylformamide as the crystallization solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and quantum chemical calculations carried out at the spin component scaled local MP2 level of theory were then used to study the intramolecular halogen and nonconventional hydrogen bonds present in the structures. The results were compared to and contrasted with the previously reported data for uracil and its halogenated derivatives.
